i was sublcinical for 2 years and 10 months ago a private endo prescibed levo but my nsh endo and gp didnt and said i didnt need it , and then my nhs gp prescribed levo 6 weeks ago as my blood test showed i was not subclinical anymore . i chose metavive because i read ndt was better than t4 only..
Well it looks as though Metavive is doing something for you, your results have improved but your hormones - FT4 and FT3 - may not be the right balance for you and the reason why you don't feel any better. Your FT4 is very low in range.
i chose metavive because i read ndt was better than t4 only..
I think you might have made a mistake by not starting with Levo. Despite what you might have read, Levo does suit a lot of hypo patients but you won't know until you try it and once you've given it a good go if you find it doesn't suit then consider alternatives.
If I were you I would accept the Levo and see what happens. Your FT4 should rise, and when on Levo only most people feel best when TSH is 1 or below with FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of their ranges.
thank you, i have been thinking it was a wrong not to try the levo . i did to much resurch and got caught up in it all and it seemed t4 onlywas never good for people
my problem is now i dont know how to come of the metavie to try the levo. do i wean of them by taking down a capsule every day or just stop cold turkey? or continue on metavive for another 6 weeks and re test then change . im really confused what to do next
I'm sorry, I've not done that so wouldn't like to advise but I'm not sure what continuing with Metavive and retesting in 6 weeks is likely to achieve considering how you feel at the moment.
You also need thyroid antibodies tested to see if cause of your hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s diagnosed by high TPO or high TG antibodies.
Highly likely as about 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease
You really need referral to thyroid specialist endocrinologist with low cortisol
