Results and next steps - help please!

I just got my Medichecks results back, after some kind people advised me to get a full panel in the previous thread healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Symptoms are listed there, but these are the results:

TSH 3.33 (0.27-4.2)

Free T4 14.8 (12-22)

Total T4 81 (59-154)

Free T3 4.04 (3.1-6.8)

Thyroglobulin antibody <10 (0-115)

TPO antibodies 14.4 (0-34)

Active B12 93 (25-165)

Folate 6.78 (2.91-50)

Ferritin 66.3 (13-150)

Bit confused about the folate because it was at the upper end of normal 6 weeks ago. Stupidly ordered the package that doesn't include Vitamin D, but I've been supplementing and using a lamp since September, as it was in the lower half of the normal range. Will get that retested though.

I have an appointment with a pretty sympathetic endocrinologist who said that she would consider a trial of levothyroxine based on my previous results (TSH 4.9, Free T4 13), symptoms, and the fact that I have years of TSH results lying just above normal range/at the upper end of normal. I suspect it's going to be harder to make my case now that TSH is back inside the normal range though. Should I even still be making the case? The symptoms are all on the hypo list, and I feel fobbed off with a diagnosis of ME/CFS...It's been five years of fluctuating results and "those numbers aren't bad enough, let's retest", and I feel I have to try something now, as the symptoms are worsening.

Thanks very much for any advice :)

If you think it will affect your chances of treatment, don't show the latest results - you're not obliged to. The results you already have (and what have got you the potential trial) are enough!

Thank you! That's useful to know, I just don't want to convince the doctor to give me a trial if these numbers suggest it's not going to be helpful/potentially harmful. Hoping that's not the case though?

If it’s any help I’ve been to the doctor today to discuss my results. As my doctor is taking my word on treatment he emailed local hospital for help. Hospital endocrinologists reply was that I was correct and tsh should be in lower range. Your doc could do same as your still symptomatic. Worth a try

Ahh that's reassuring, thanks! The doctor I'm seeing is an endocrinologist (gave up on GPs recently), so I'm hoping she'll agree about the TSH. Would 25 be a good starting dose, or should it be 50 straight away?

Mine was 100 many years ago but they should start you on 50 as that’s the usual so I’m told 😄
