Yes I've had this, and still do. The one thing I've found that helps is this product, although I admit I haven't spent much time looking for alternatives :

shop.neilmed.com/Products/N...

I buy it off Amazon. Sadly, for what it is, it's expensive.

I not only have a dry nose, but I also have dry eyes, dry ears, and dry mouth to go along with it.

Flonase is an anti-histamine, it is a different class of product to Nasogel. I can't cope with nasal sprays of that type either.

Nasogel is basically a saline solution with a tissue lubricant (sodium hyaluronate) in it. The maker, Neilmed, have some other products for nose and sinus problems that may be of interest - although I think all their products are shockingly expensive for what they are.

Other possibilities, from other makers, are products sold for babies with crusty noses. But I've never tried those.

neilmed.com/usa/index.php

Neilmed have other products for clearing the nose and sinuses, most of which I've never tried. Having looked at their products I think I might try the Nasogel in a tube rather than a spray at some point.

According to wikipedia on this page :

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodiu... :

"Sodium hyaluronate functions as a tissue lubricant and is thought to play an important role in modulating the interactions between adjacent tissues."

From personal experience I would suggest trying only one spray up each nostril to start with. But you can repeat the treatment after a fairly short time if you feel it might help.

For night time you could try two sprays up each nostril. But one drawback I found with that amount is that it makes me snore dreadfully, and it disturbed my husband. So I only ever use one spray per nostril now.

Another problem is that two sprays per nostril seems rather wasteful of the product because quite a lot of it ended up going down the back of my throat and being swallowed.

The stuff is harmless though, as far as I'm aware, so experimentation with amount and timing is well worth doing.

If you have a lot of dried blood up your nose it may start to come out after just one dose, so don't be surprised if you have blood coming out if/when you blow your nose to begin with. IF it is going to help - and there is no guarantee it will - then you should notice an improvement after just a few days. It will soften any scabs you have up there too, and some of those, when they come loose, can be quite alarming. Try not to blow your nose too much to give any scabby bits a chance to heal.

Thank you so much the spray seems to be working I don’t like the nasogel too much as it seems to be drying out very quickly

some time ago, I saw on one of the Gp doctor programmes to use a small amount of Vaseline on a cotton wool bud and wipe it round the inside of the nose. I tried it and it works for me. Maybe worth a try.

I could give that a try.

But I'm wary - I don't tolerate Vaseline on my skin in other places. Doctors would often recommend it to me when I had severe eczema. But it actually made my problems worse. I have issues with lanolin as well.

Yes I have this problem too, and seldom blow my nose without some blood on the tissue. The best thing for reducing sinus issues can be changing your diet, eat as much raw salads as possible. Raw cabbage is a natural antiseptic. Avoid too much milk and dairy as this seems to boost catarrh production. Use Sterimar salt water nasal sprays, they make different ones according to the type of problem. For example one for hay fever and allergies. Steam inhalation at least twice a day if things are very congested.Hope some of this advice will be helpful?

Something like this moisturiser can help, especially in dry central heating in winter

Wow, that ointment has some amazingly good reviews. I think I'll buy some. Thanks for the suggestion. And it's cheaper than the stuff I've been buying too, which is always a bonus.
