Suprise suprise NHS only tested for couple of things 😩

Hello 👋 everyone 😊

I had a blood test on Monday morning and nurse assured me that a full thyroid panel was being done.

Results attached and usual story have only checked TSH and a bonus antibody check. No T4 or T3 🙄

I've just gone and ordered the medichecks advanced to test everything.

I'm on no medication as of yet other than the recommended vitamins off you wonderful helpful guys on here.

Attached suggests no action.....I'm no expert but TSH should be below 1 am I right?

Do antibodies look raised?

Blessings , Kelly 💕💕

Not necessarily. That is for Hypo patients on replacement thyroid hormone.

A normal healthy person would have a TSH of no more than 2, often around 1, with FT4 around mid-range-ish.

Here is a graph of TSH levels in healthy people so you can see where you are compared with that. We have to remember that we are never tested for a baseline in health though:

Your antibodies aren't raised, they are within range so your result is considered negative for autoimmune thyroid disease. However, antibodies fluctuate and another test might find them higher or lower.

It will be interesting to see what your Medichecks results are so post them when you have them and we can comment.

Previous post shows Hashimoto’s and low vitamins

Since going gluten free and working on improving vitamins your levels look much improved

Be interesting to see what Medichecks results show

Stop vitamin B complex a week before ALL blood tests

Perhaps taking separate folate and B12 in that week before test

Yes, testing only TSH is pretty useless. It doesn't say anything about the actual existence of thyroid hormones in your body and if your body converts T4 into the more potent T3, which is absolutely crucial. Or if you have Hashi. Can you make them test fT4 and ft3 and the antibodies? All the best for you!!
