I started taking Vit D3 K2 – MK-7 this year as I was told it would help with both my thyroid problem and my osteoporosis.
However, I’m not sure this is right for me and even after a lot of internet research I’m not sure. I take 5mg Coumadine (Warfarin) daily after thromboses and other clotting problems (I have the genetic problem of Factor 5 Leiden).
I would be most grateful for your input as there seems to be a big debate about the difference between K1 and K2 and I understood the D3 K2-MK7 would be fine as it wouldn’t affect the anti-coagulants.
I haven’t had my INR tested since December last year as my local lab was mixing Covid19 patients testing with ordinary testing and I haven’t wanted to be in their waiting rooms. So I can’t see any difference.
For the moment I’ve just decided to stop the D3 K2-MK7 and wait to see what HealthUnlocked can tell me.
In the meantime, 2 stone heavier since the pandemic started and my hair is almost gone - I'm very depressed! And I was hoping the supplements would help me!

It has never been mentioned on the forum that Vit K2-MK7 helps the thyroid. Looking through your posts, the only reference is one I made in reply to your last post in December when I said:
As you take Vit D are you also taking Vit K2-MK7, one of D3's important cofactors, which directs the extra uptake of calcium from food to bones and teeth where it's needed and away from arteries and soft tissues where it can be deposited and cause problems such as calcification of arteries, kidney stones, etc. 90-100mcg K2-MK7 is enough for up to 10,000iu D3.

Yes, there is conflicting information out there about this which is why it's important that we each do our own research and make our own minds up.
I'm sorry that you are having such a difficult time. I had an MI 9 years ago but I only have to take aspirin. I have osteopenia. I too have concerns about taking K2-MK7, and generally what you find when researching as with most things is "More research into this area is required"
I take 2000iu Vitamin D, and a quarter of a 100mcg K2-MK7.
I've recently had lots of blood tests at my local hospital, and a trip to A&E. My hospital now has completely separate areas (in different buildings) for those attending the 'blood clinics' and then the 'rest of us'. It is very well organised with spaced seating, whereas at the beginning of the pandemic people were queuing in the hallways. Infection rates are quite low at the moment ........ so maybe a good time to get bloods tested, and an opportunity to ask the haematologist, not only about the K2-MK7, but also ask his opinion about just taking the vitamin D.
' The Calcium Paradox' by Kate RheamBleu, is well researched book with lots of information, not only about K2, (in fermented foods, etc.), that directs D3 to the bones where it belongs and not the arteries, but also contains information about the difference between K1 and K2, and the effect of anticoagulants.
