Hello I’m on a course of antibiotics which finish next Monday, my thyroid test is couple of days later should I postpone it?

If you've had an acute infection it's recommended to delay thyroid tests for a few weeks until you're back to normal. Presumably this is why you've been prescribed antibiotics? If so then I'd delay your test.

Perhaps it might depend on how you are feeling. Antibiotics completely wreaked my absorption of thyroid meds for about 6 weeks after finishing the course and I felt as if I may as well not have been taking them at all and had severe hypo symptoms. I tested during that period and it did indeed look like I wasn’t taking my meds properly as I was on more than at my last test 6 weeks previously and yet showed a drop in fT3 and fT4... so you might not get a result that truly reflects where you are. But you may not react to the antibiotics like I did, of course... hence my thought about seeing how you feel nearer the time? Tough call at this point! But if you were looking for a dose increase, well, it might all be very convenient!

It’s my 2nd course and my stomachs in bits I’ll delay blood test. Thankyou

You were right my t3 had dropped so endo increased dosage to 2 1/4 grains I can’t usually tolerate this dose so hope I do this time.
