I've done a quick search and haven't seen it mentioned that penicillins interact with thyroid drugs e.g. levo, T3, Carbimazole so it's unlikely they interact with NDT. However you are best to do your own search on places like medicines.org.uk/emc/

Just make sure you leave 4 hours between taking NDT and the antibiotic to minimise risk of interactions and to ensure the NDT is absorbed.

Are your vitamin D levels high enough Carrie? Think about using N acetyl cysteine for your infections. I believe it thins mucous for one thing.

I happened to read this yesterday... Not sure what kind of antibiotic you're on. Quite an interesting piece on various interactions. ( from Hypothyroidmom referencing an article from journal 'Thyroid')

'A study from the journal Thyroid found that the antibiotic ciprofloxacin – known more commonly by brand names Cipro, Proquin, Ciproxin, Ciprobay, Cirpoxine, and Ciflox — significantly decreased the absorption of the thyroid medication.(5) [Keep in mind that some experts feel that the warning about ciprofloxacin applies also to similar quinolone antibiotics such as levofloxacin (Levaquin), lomefloxacin (Maxaquin), monifloxacin (Avelox), norfloxacin (Norox-In), and ofloxacin (Floxin).]'

From what I could find, there is mention that penicillin could alter the ability of thyroid hormone to bind to one of the binding proteins - Transthyretin. That was reported quite a long time ago and I'd have hoped the issue would have received further research but I could not find any.

Transthyretin (TTR) is a transport protein in the serum and cerebrospinal fluid that carries the thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4) and retinol-binding protein bound to retinol. This is how transthyretin gained its name: transports thyroxine and retinol. The liver secretes transthyretin into the blood, and the choroid plexus secretes TTR into the cerebrospinal fluid.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans...

I have been unable to find any other reported interactions

Note: This is one of the problems with thyroid hormone interactions - the actual issue might not be obvious. If the two substances react before being absorbed (like iron compounds and levothyroxine) it is relatively simple. But a subtle change in the ability of a binding protein to carry thyroid hormone could easily be missed. And how much impact that change has in real human beings.
