I am just writing because my mother is in hospital hooked up to telemetry machines because she is missing 4+ seconds of heartbeats at a time and it's worsening. She was stable on 50 mcg privately funded T3 only for 6 years. She was hoping to get her T3 funded by the NHS and so they agreed if she reduced her dose from 50mcg to 40mcg and added T4 back in the mix (25 mcg). She tried this and started having fainting spells. Her current results are:
TSH: 0.30 (0.38-5.33)
Free T3: 5.7 (3.5-6.2)
Free T4: 4.5 (8-16)
They now want to reduce her T3 further and they are discussing fitting a pacemaker. Of course her cardiac issues could be unrelated but it all seems strange timing to me. Neither of us have done well on thyroxine and we are both Hashimoto's patients. I'm so worried about her reducing her T3 further.
Any insight anyone can provide would be much appreciated.

She may have heart block which causes a pause in rate, a pacemaker will sort it. I have 2nd degree block and had a pacemaker fitted last year, I'm not on T3.
Her TSH and T3 bloods are spot on. T4 is too low. Was she undiagnosed for any significant period of time? Been undiagnosed and or under medicated can cause damage to the heart. Whats her history?
Hi so sorry to hear about your mum we seem to be living in a different times at present and maybe before any surgery is commenced it may be wise to try and find a possibly cause of the symptoms instead of treating symptoms without investigating cause
you could ask the hospital if they will do a toxins test ie metals test
as these can be known to create all sorts of problems in our bodies especially more so if taking thyroid meds
and right now there is a lot around in our breathable air column you would be extremely shocked
T3 is used up within a few hours. T4 is the storage hormone and that it what her body would call on to convert to T3( unless she has a problem converting ). So if her t3 is running out after a couple of hours , she has very very low reserves of T4 to call on. This could cause heart problems, it certainly does with me. Heart jumps all over the place as my t3 reduces.
Like bantan12, I also have heart block (initially stage 2, but now stage 3) and have a pacemaker. Same symptoms as your mum before I had the pacemaker - my heart stopped long enough for me to collapse. I also have Hashi's and take 175 mcg of Levo every day, and blamed this for the way I felt. The cardiologist didn't think the two were related. The pacemaker has sorted me out.
