Advice with different blood tests

I am getting blood tests for selenium, zinc, calcium, parietal and endomysial antibodies.

I don’t supplement any of these currently except for eating high selenium Brazil nuts. Should I stop this before and if so how long?

Is there anything I should be aware of before testing for them in order to get best results? I will stop biotin 7 days before regardless and do them fasting as will be doing thyroid, B12 and iron at same time.

Thanks

If you want a baseline for your selenium level then you'd need to stop the Brazil nuts if you definitely know they contain selenium (pack should tell you). I'm afraid I don't know how long for though.

Hmm with selenium, given how much is in Brazil nuts and the risk with over supplementation and cancer risk - am I better off to use this test to see how high my levels are, with eating what I normally eat - which includes Brazil nuts (I use Sainsbury’s fair trade so they are purportedly high selenium ones). I might want to cut it back if it is high.

That could be useful, continue with them and see what your selenium level is with having selenium from the nuts. If nicely within range then you'll know the amount you eat is fine, if over range cut back on how many you have.

Yeah makes sense - I think that would be the best use of the test.

Thanks!

jsy_girl just hopping on this thread to ask who you are testing with as I am interested? Is it a private online company? Thanks and good luck with test.

Yeah it’s a private hospital. Really expensive. Wouldn’t recommend if paying privately. Am having to ring round and find the cheapest option because I have Pmi but only a set limit for costs relating to a pre existing condition!!

Thank you :-)
