I take my 50 mcg of Levothyroxine T 4 and 5 mcg of Liothyronine T3 at the same time on empty stomach in the morning. I noticed on Wednesday that I had taken both pills of T4 by mistake for two days l, thereby leaving me no

Pills of T4 and extra of T3.

I went for my annual physical on Thursday and was told my Blood pressure was too high, I am 76 year old, never had high BP before. Could the extra T4 be causing high BP?

I skipped my T4 Levo this morning, my heart was beating fast this morning.

I will send a note to my Gp on Monday. Should I skip another dose of T4, then continue on my regular routine?

Thanks so much.

One extra 50mcg of levothyroixine should make no difference.

Have a look at this post from yesterday. It will put things into perspective. :)

I don’t think you have anything to worry about Suzi, your heart rate etc is more likely to have been effected by you worrying that you may have under or over dosed on either one of your meds. I take 50mcg’s of Levo amd 75mcg’s Liothyronine, might sound extreme but that’s what makes me feel ok, before using Lio I was on 225mcg’s of Levo and I still had a above range of TSH. Don’t worry, you will be absolutely fine!! 👊🏻👊🏻

I would suggest you get in touch with your doctor to get checked over. I doubt it is anything to worry about if you don’t suffer with high blood pressure. But it is best to be safe and find out for sure. A couple days of mistaken pills shouldn’t make too much difference, as I’m assuming you still have a thyroid and just have a top up medication of the combined pills. Just resume normal medication when you have them available and I’m sure you will feel fine again.

Hi Suzy,Your high blood pressure has nothing to do with you getting mixed up with your pills. On the contrary, it means that you might not get enough and are lacking loads of supplements. Don't forget to take Vitamin D and so many others without which, the thyroxine cannot be effective.
