Metavive

Has anyone noticed that the size of the metavive 1 capsule is now smaller than it used to be? The old one had 15mg and the new metavive is supposed to have 40mg but the capsule is a lot smaller than the 15mg. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Since I've been taking the new Metavive I've been having bad headaches, stomach problems, heartburn and racing heart. I stopped taking them for a couple of days and the symptoms went away. Has anyone else had any problems with the new metavive and has anyone found out why they have changed it? My thyroid has been destroyed by hashimoto's and I'm so worried I may have to start taking thyroxine again.

Thank you

Are you taking the bovine or porcine Metavive? I am on one capsule of bovine Matavive II , 50mg of thyroxine, and two 30 mg tablets of Tru thyroid. I am not as good as when I was on 120 mg of TR-Thyroid, but I am not too bad.

I take Metavive 11 and these are 80mg, I was very hypo due to not being able to source thiroid s which worked great for me, I have those symptoms with M.E anyway but having more headache, but this could be more ipad time, glad you brought this up,I am using the porcine variety, sometimes the capsule shell is different depending on which manufacturer the use, the contents would be the same amount.

Hi kymkat, thanks for replying. It seem like a lot of people are having similar symptoms. I was great taking metavive until they changed it. Just don't know what to do. I didn't want to go back on thyroxine but might not have a choice now as the headaches are horrible. 😞

Maybe speak to people on the bovine one first? Seems a shame to come off it,let me know if you find out more please,I will do the same.

I take Metavive and was lucky to have a good few bottles as back up. When I saw on here that people on here were having problems with the new one I started adding in one new one with two old ones and gradually moved over to the new ones. I’ve had no problem doing it that way. I used to take NutriThyroid - it is the same thing as the original Metavive so you might do better on it.

I've had to return to taking levo along with a couple of metavive 2 because it's nowhere near the strength of ndt (metavive) which I can no longer afford without taking out a loan lol, same as everyone else I know...

Hi DonnyJam, I know what you mean. It can be so expensive and I've bought 3 pots of the new metavive and now don't think I can take them. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

I used to take Metavive a while ago but had to stop as the natural T3 level was too much for me. I did attempt to return to it recently when my Synthroid supply cut short because of the pandemic. However again I found the T3 level too high. But what also put me off continuing with it is that the ingredients have changed. I have a lot of sensitivities so would be wary of trying the new Metavive.

Re the capsule size, if it were me I'd weigh them and check. Could be the ingredients are packed harder together, so they fit in a smaller capsule. You can get micro measuring scales.

But the symptoms you have suddenly, I wonder if they're from sensitivity to the change in ingredients. Might be worth looking for something that has the same ingredients as the old Metavive to test if that's better for you.

Hope this helps and you feel better soon

Hi, I would contact them and ask if anything was changed and go on to tell them what has happened to you. They might or might not reply but it’s worth a shot. Jo. Xx

Hi Jo, I sent them an email and they called me back. Offered me a new drug they are testing but I don't fancy being a guinea pig. I've asked for a refund which they are happy to do. I can't keep taking something that's making me ill.

Think I'm going to have to start taking thyroxine again πŸ˜– xx
