This was on 175mcg of levothyroxine, doctors has reduce levo to 150mcg and added 1/4 of armour thyroid. Which i dont think is enough and im alrwady feeling more hypo than before. I do have 1/2 grain pill whixh im supposed to cut in half and take it in the morning with my levo. Idk what my next move should be should i ask to take the whole 1/2 grain? Or wait? I dont think 1/4 grain will help me much as ther is only 9mcg of t3 and 39 of t4 in a whole grain divide that by 4 and thats what im taking i dont see how thaf is beneficial.

Hi. I am not knowledgeable in any way regards dosing bit of you would like a higher dose I would ask for a whole grain and if you get half or three quarters then you would have a choice of increasing. I consider this a negotiating situation. Ask for a whole grain rather than maybe arguing for a half. If they give u half or three quarters then psychologically they feel like they have maybe got the upper hand. If this is totally irrelevant then disregard my post. Good luck
Opps i did forget to mention, the reason i said half a grain is because initially he prescribed half a grain with the 150mcg of levo, but 2 days after he called me and said that he felt i should start on a 1/4 instead. This doctor has never prescribe armour before and is a bit concern i guess, but im the one suffering. I think he would be more towards giving me the initial dose of 1/2 a grain than a whole grain for now. Either way i need a higher dose 1/4 grain seems to run out by 10 am haha.
Hi. Interesting that he changed his mind. You are right, you are the one suffering. If he is reasonable and you trust you can get a half grain then maybe that’s what you should discuss, how the quarter is not enough. I wish you luck.
Thanks for your reply. And one more thing as im not so sure for dose timing, should 1/2 graing should be taken only once or twice a day. I do not know if its worth taken it twice a day.
I have been taking Levothyroxine for about 30 years, my dosage has fluctuated occasionally, but my dr. would change dosage, not familiar with armour thyroid, however I do want to express that it is my experience that the change does not take place immediately takes a few weeks to level out. In reading your question, it looks to me that this has really causing you worry and stress, I would urge you to talk to your Dr., just show dr. what you wrote, I am sure that your concerns can be put to rest. Good Luck
I do understand that change in doses cause unstable feeling and levels for about 6 weeks, but my concern is that my doxtor toom away 25mcg of levo only to add a 1/4 grain of armour which only contains about 2mcg of t3 and 9mcg t4. I dont see how this is a fair trade off as i wasnt optimal in first place. How are you holding with levothyroxine do you feel well on it?
