So these were my results in mid april. (Attachment below)
My Dr advised to cut back down from 1 1/2 grains to 1 grain as I felt extremely hyper with symptoms.
These are my results now (tested through nhs GP)
Tsh 5.16 (0.3-5.0)
T4 8.2 (7.9-16)
T3 4.4 (range unknown)
I now obviously feel hypo with hair loss, depression, extreme fatigue and body aches.
I am wondering what to do next. The problem I am having is if I increase meds from 1 grain my heart goes crazy (I do have pots so sensitive to meds). Plus my t3 goes over range with a small increase and I feel hypo.
I am not sure whether to add in 12.5 mg of levo (tirosint) to see if that helps. I think I am aware a t3 drug increase is not an option

Yes I split twice a day half and half. I have tried doing 3x a day whilst on 1 1/4 & 1 1/2 grains but it just pushes my heart rate really high, I don’t think my heart can take a t3 increase.
Oh yes here were my last results. I am taking another medichecks blood test tomorrow to see how my vit levels are doing.
I currently take vit D, pro biotic, iron, multivitamin, magnesium & 3x electrolyte drinks a day (due to pots).
Do you think a 12.5 or 25mg tirisont added in would prevent my t3 going to high and heart rate going too high?
Cheap poorly absorbed ingredients. Most contain iodine not recommended for anyone on replacement thyroid hormones unless tested and deficient and under care of iodine specialist
They were tested end of feb but I had an nhs blood test 4 weeks ago that showed not much change to vit levels. I think my vit D would probably be ok now as I have been out in the sun.
Do you have your 'blood drawn' at the earliest possible time ? fasting (you can drink water) and don't take thyroid hormones until after the blood is drawn.
Yes I usually draw at 7am before any food or water. Nhs bloods at 8:30am but nothing before.
So I have just taken half my NDT (9pm) dose as I do this before bed. Will 7am blood draw be ok tomorrow morning? Or is that not enough time between meds and bloods ?
Personal anecdote: I first got tachycardia (fast heart rate - up to 150 /160 beats per minute) when my iron and ferritin (iron stores) levels were very, very low. Improving my levels with iron supplements took a long time but it did eventually help me to feel better and my heart rate slowed down. I had to learn a lot about testing iron, supplements I could take, and what the results of testing were telling me - although I've never got terribly good at it. There are many patterns of iron results that I don't understand.
Another thing I know helps the heart is potassium. Personally I take potassium bicarbonate powder - a level quarter teaspoon in orange juice, when my heart misbehaves. I didn't have a problem with my heart at all until my iron became severely low, and unfortunately, although I can help the problem I've never been able to stop it altogether. I also have a prescription for beta blockers (Bisoprolol) which I take only when necessary, but they do help when my heart goes too fast.

And magnesium is calming too. You'll find lots of posts about magnesium on the forum. There are lots of different kinds to choose from and it depends on what issues you've got which is the best kind for you.
Yes I do have electrolyte drinks throughout the day. I have to due to dehydration.
I have postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. It causes hight heart rate I also have High resting rate and I am on medication for this. It affects the whole nervous system. So even if I get all my vitamin levels right I am always going to struggle with this condition ontop giving me heart issues.
The problem is with thyroid medication is it causing the heart rate to increase (which works well with hypo symptoms usually as they have lower Hr.
As your Ferritin is low I am wondering if you have had a Full Iron Profile carried out. Low Iron and Folate can cause heart issues as oxygen is transported around the body by adhering to Iron in the red blood cells. So the heart senses this and beats faster in an attempt to produce more oxygen. Low iron = Low oxygen = increased heart rate - simplistically put !
How do you take your Iron supplement ? Which one ? Iron has the habit of binding to other nutrients. Have you stopped the multi-vit ?
I lived in Crete for 15 years and VitD tested insufficient after 4 years so loads of sunshine. I have Hahimotos. I supplemented based on my results and my maintenance dose is currently around 4000 iu's.
Yes I am working on the iron issues, I was on prescribed one from the Dr but I couldn’t tolerate it anymore. I am looking to start iron heme soon.
I have pots which causes a lot of my heart issues as it affects the whole nervous system. But, I do agree the vitamin and thyroid issues is contributing to this.
Doctors almost always prescribe ferrous sulfate because it is the cheapest one available to them to prescribe, but it is also very difficult for most people to tolerate. I used ferrous fumarate to raise my iron and ferritin. If I had my time over again I would give ferrous gluconate a try. It contains less iron than ferrous sulfate and fumarate, and adults can take from 1 - 6 tablets a day. I think it would be a good option because it allows for a lot of tailoring of dose, taking account of tolerance.
All of the iron supplements that doctors in the UK prescribe can be bought in pharmacies without prescription. If you get turned down you can just try a different pharmacy.
