Does anyone with hypothyroidism get severely dry skin? I’ve been getting it under my beard and on my face. Itchy red and dry patches. I’ve also developed bad swelling in my nose and throat. Any suggestions on what I can do? I’ve been seeing doctors for treatment.

Skin trouble and throat trouble
Dry skin is extremely common if under medicated
How much levothyroxine are you currently taking Do you always get same brand of levothyroxine
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
When were thyroid and vitamin levels last tested
Please add any recent results and ranges
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

Thanks for the reply. I’m in the United States so I don’t have access to much of what you put. I just got my levels done I’ve been taking tirosint for less than a year and am at 125 mcg daily. I think I’m going io again because my last test showed Tsh+free t4 at 8.170 and t4 free direct at 1.39. I’m confused on my tsh because each test it’s been getting closer 4.500 and last month it was7.800 but it’s gotten worse again when my dose went up. It’s been going down steadily. I started at 13 mcg daily and tsh was 21 something
I've had swelling in my nose and a dry throat that gives me a tickling and swelling feeling. I experienced this when both my FT4 and FT3 levels are low.
Thanks I’ll try the vitamins. I tried tummeric vitamins and it made me vomit a while back. Maybe it was a bad brand. My skins been horrible lately and I have numerous other health issues and am really struggling lately. My throat and nose are super swollen I can’t breath. The new doctor is adding more meds which equals more money spent and more crap to take
