I posted on here last week. My GP said he was going to check for full thyroid and antibodies, however when I received the results only TSH and T4 had been checked. I have requested bloods from Medicheck for full thyroid and received the results today. I am ttc IVF but I would like some advice before starting my next round of IVF.
Hey Natty 👋 hope you’re well. Your TSH looks good in terms of TTC - as I mentioned two endos advised me it should be under 1. How do you feel though? Your T3 is still a little on the low side.
If you put them into a range calculator your t3 looks like it’s flagging so you look to not be a great converter.
FT4 89.00% through range
FT3 36.22% through range
Looking at your previous post your vit d is very low. Most people on here say minimum 75 ideally 100. My endo has told me 150. When I was very deficient a few years I was taking 20,000 twice a week. My latest endo who is trying to get me to 150 said take 20,000 three times a week for a month to really bump levels. So you might want to consider increasing your dose. Make sure you take the cofactors magnesium and k2 when taking a high dose (ie what you’re taking now).
Getting your vits right might help your T3 increase from improved conversion.
The antibodies show your hypothyroidism is due to the autoimmune condition Hashimotos. One consequence of that is that your levels can swing a bit.
Hi Arlie..I’m feeling fine no symptoms apart from some hair loss. I am currently taking Vit D 20,000 weekly for for 8 weeks. I’m assuming I’ll have to increase my dose then? Also, where can I buy the magnesium and K2 from..is it a combined vitamin? The IVF is on hold at the minute until my thyroid problem is sorted..another obstacle in the way😩. How are you doing? X
We ALWAYS recommend getting FULL thyroid and vitamins tested BEFORE considering seeing any thyroid specialist endocrinologist
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
Email Thyroid UK for list of recommend thyroid specialist endocrinologists..........NHS and Private

The aim of levothyroxine is to increase dose upwards until Ft4 is in top third of range and Ft3 at least half way through range (regardless of how low TSH is)
Absolutely essential to have optimal vitamin levels too as this helps reduce symptoms and improve how levothyroxine works
