Help Interpreting Vitamin Levels

When I had the full thyroid test I presumed that all these levels were adequate. Now as I am new to this site and reading more, I am wondering if the ferretin and folate levels are not optimal. Please advise and best way to increase levels. Am currently on 100 m levothyroxine. Has worked well for me in the past until stress and hormones hit last year. I have a range of symptoms - antibodies last 2 tests have been around the 300 mark. Would like to make sure that all the above levels are optimal

Free T3 2.4-6.0 pmol/L 4.7

could you type out the photo shot results please. I’m struggling to see image clearly.

Free T3 4.7 (2.4-6.0)

Free T4 12 (9-19)

TSH 7.3 (0.35-4.94)

Are these correct? Eg is FT3 & TSH results not switch round? They look unusual.

TSH 7.3 (0.35-4.94)

Free T3 4.7 (2.4-6.0)

Free T4 12 (9-19)

Most feel well with TSH around 1, but more crucially FT4 is top 3rd and FT3 at least half way.

Your FT4  is - FT4: 12 (Range 9 - 19) 30.00%

FT3: (Range 2.4 - 6) 63.89%

So your FT3 is good & FT4 is low.  Some people cope with low FT4 provided FT3 at good level. Some need both levels to be good

Are you taking L-T4 (no L-T3?)

TSH high given FT3 good & FT4 is range.

How did you test? are you testing as recommended?

What dose were you on? have you been on continent dose - when was previous change before testing?

FERRITIN 50.4  (13 - 150)

FOLATE  6.29 (3.89 - 19.45)

VITAMIN B12 - ACTIVE. 78.5 (37.5 - 150)

Folate, Ferritin & B12 - all are not optimal.

VITAMIN D. 160 - ( 50 - 200)  very good? Do you supplement?

I am currently on 100 mg levothyroxine. Had been on 125 for a couple of years. Moved to 100 then 75 but now back up to 100. What is best way to supplement folate, ferritin and b12

Have you been back on 100mcg levo since Jan?  & Gel for HRT started around time?

Has brand changed (as dose altered)?

Could anything different affect absorption of replacement dose?

How did you test? Time? fasting? any biotin supplements? Time after dose?

What supplements do you currently take?

Ferritin not too low - look to add iron rich foods.

Thornes basic b (B complex) is often recommended as a good b complex.  With methyl folate B9 (not folic acid) & good form of B12.

Thanks for the information on supplements. Re levothyroxine. No brand change. No biotin. Always take test first thing. No levo on morning before test. Nothing has changed, apart from oestrogel started in january ( 2 pumps ) and 200 mg utrogestan ( 2 weeks of 1 month). I take lots of supplements - magnesium, D, C, L-thianine, nattokinase, omega oil, turmeric.

previous test was from november as follows.

TSH

mU/L

0.27 - 4.2 R

FREE T3

pmol/L

3.1 - 6.8 R

FREE THYROXINE

So confused by results - body confused too! Either tired or wired!

do you think an endochrinologist could help me sort of levels/medication or just try optimising supplementation for a bit and restest in a few months.

Previous levels suggest either the levels are “too high” for you -  or the alterations hasn’t settled & you are particularly sensitive to adjustments & fluctuations.

How are you feeling symptom wise now?

Current levels show TSH high and low FT4 - this would prompt an increase as FT4 rises TSH lower. High TSH can heighten conversion & the body preserves FT3 levels over FT4.

Perhaps follow the advice from last post & lower the increase amount & allow longer time until testing.

Doctors even Endocrinologist often focus only on TSH, & not look at FT4 & FT3 & will trust anywhere in range will be acceptable if they are tested.  Same applies the nutrients.  If they test they won’t be concerned about optimal levels.  So often best to test & supplement yourself.

How much vit D do you take? good you take magnesium as important D3 cofactor.  K2 is another cofactor for D3.  It directs calcium to bones & teeth where needed and away from vessels where you don’t.
