Advice on new blood results and a question on reverse t3

Here it is, my newest blood results after 6 weeks on 100mcg levo (I increased from 75) and 15mcg t3. As I wasn’t feeling good like before my aim was to lower ft3 and rise ft4...

previous resultes were tsh: 0,014, ft4 1,08, ft3 4,20 (same ranges).

Also vit. d still low besides supplementing since ever.

Still feeling like crap and gaining weight every day. Any suggestion?

And I also have a question: does anyone know if a high ft3 means I do not have a high rt3?

Does a high rt3 cause ft3 to be low? (I’m wondering if my rt3 is high or normal, since I can’t seem to find a place to test it)

Many thanks everyone!

Rt3 does not block t3. It has its own job to do. Rt3 can be high for many reasons only one of which is thyroid related so I would not worry about it.

High rT3 can inhibit T4 to T3 conversion, at least it does in experiments. It's not clear how much effect this has in real life. rT3 can be high if fT4 is high which is not so in your case. rT3 can also go high if you are on a strict diet or have a severe illness. It is expensive to measure rT3 and not all assays are accurate so I wouldn't bother trying to get an rT3 blood test. In any case rT3 blood levels vary considerably so any result is not much use.

Do you have symptoms other than weight gain? Weight is not a good indicator of thyroid status. If you are following a low calorie diet this could affect your thyroid hormone levels.

Thanks for your reply.

I do have other symptoms: I’m always tired, sleepy, brain fog and depression..

My guess is you will do better on more L-T3 rather than more levothyroxine, perhaps reduce the levothyroxine.

I don’t really know what to do. Btw I’ll see a new Endo on Monday, 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Thanks for your kind answers!

You're almost at the top of the range on T3 but only 32% through the range on t4. Perhaps you could do with more t4 but maybe it hasn't really started working yet. Perhaps test all your vitamins to see if any deficiencies in say D, B12, folate, iron etc?
