Can anyone tell me the difference between Matavive I and Metavive II? I am about to start Metavive II, previously I was on 2 tabs of Thyroid S. Does anyone know what would be the equivalent in Metavive II to tans of thyroid S Many thanks in advance.

Metavive ll is double the dose of Metavive l, simple as that. The website that sells them shows you that :)

As Metavive doesn't declare any hormone content, it's not possible to compare with NDT so it's really a case of try it and see if it works for you, then finding the dose that suits.

Be aware that Metavive lll and lV are not just higher doses of Metavive l and ll, l and ll are porcine, lll and lV are bovine.

Clarification if you don't mind, SeasideSusie. As I understand it Metavive III (bovine) is the same strength as Metavive I (porcine). Similarly Metavive IV is same strength as Metavive II. I'm really saying you don't need the word 'just'.

I was trying to clarify that Metavive lll and lV are not from the same animal so they wouldn't be stronger versions of l and ll. I don't see why you've picked on the word "just".

They are the same strength as in 40mg and 80mg but the porcine and bovine versions are different in that a pig's thyroid does not have the same hormone content as a cow's thyroid so if there is any thyroid hormone in them at all it wont be the same.

Hi, why do you think some people is putting on weight with the new version? I didn't try it yet, thanks

No idea other, might be worth asking the manufacturer seeing as they've changed the formula. I've never used it so can't share any experience about either the original version or the new version.

That’s really interesting SeasideSusie I was not clued up that NDT’s included bovine too. I can see it’s quite a different science to the porcine. I did take 2 tabs of Metavive II and I am getting more palpitations than usual but that’s still a bit unclear because of other conditions I have. But I shall just continue with 1 and see. I guess it’s best to wait for 6 weeks to get test to see if it does up.

Metavive is not NDT. It has no declared hormone content. It is a thyroid glandular. Their website will have more information.

Hi alex232 how r u doing on the metavive II ? Have you tested yet?

alex232 in reply to Blackpanther46

Thank you Black Panther46. I had my test results yesterday which was this:

pB TSH * 14.73 mU/L [ 0.30 - 4.20 ] * high

pB Free T4 * 11.5 pmol/L [ 12.0 - 22.0 ] * low

I was on 2 tabs of Metavive 11 and my endroconolghst suggests I take one more.

Metativive tab.

I do I feel okay on them and not feeling tired, and feeling minimal side effects but I do get a continued aches in my neck and shoulder muscles. I have been diagnosed with FND and I don’t know how much that is connected to my thyroid and immune system but that’s not good right now.

How are you getting on?

Hi we’re u that hypothyroid on the thyroid S ? Do you have before test results I would say you need to take a lot more metavive than 1 more . Did you slowly increase to 2 metavive or did you do straight swop from thyroid s ?

Thank you SeasideSusie, I was on tru thyroid but couldn’t take the stomach aches, tried putting them in capsules but still didn’t help all the wind and feeling sick. I have just been reading up on it and some people say taking with food is the way to go so I may try that too. I’ll try what you say though and see what’s right.

Hi Alex232, SeasideSusie is right, Metavive I is half the dose of Metavive II. I always bought the smaller size as it makes it easier to adjust your dose.

We don't know how these doses compare with other meds such as Thyroid S. Best thing is to start low and work up. Be careful, some of us have found we put on weight with the new formula Metavive.

Thanks Lolotina, my stomach has really calmed down which is such a relief I just hope my body can start running more normal now. I don’t know Eutirix 50/75 do you know what the equivalent would be in tabs in NDT.? Why did you come off it?And it is so interesting that you are experimenting with porcine and bovine.

Hi Alex232, Eutirox is the medicine which normally doctors advice patients to take in order to regulate hythyroid, I switched to metavive because of the many side effects I used to suffer, now I feel great, it took one year to come off it, since you need to stop slowly but it was worth!

now I take 1pc metavive I (40 mg) plus 2 pcs metavive IV (65mg), porcine is stronger and by mixing I feel great (I wanna try also to switch to porcine only)

I am doing well on metavive11, having previously used thai thiroyd. No weight gain, no stomach aches, but I did overmedicate on it when I started, I find it quite strong. Was on 3 thiroyd a day, now settled on 2 metavive11 per day.
