I am taking Metavive II for my Thyroid. I am having a Thyroid blood test soon to see how I am doing. Should I not take Metavive II till after the blood test or just take as normal? I normally take my Metavive before breakfast?

You treat Metavive like any NDT when having blood tests. That is, leave 12 hours between your last dose and the blood draw.

What time are you doing your blood test? Maybe alter the timing of your Metavive the day before so that you can leave 12 hours.

Just a thought - do you leave an hour after taking your Metavive before having breakfast? Always advised is to take any thyroid hormone replacement on an empty stomach, one hour before or two hours after food, and with water only for one hour each side.

Thank you for getting back to me. I havent got a time yet. But as I take it as soon as I get up, any blood test would be after taking it.

My Dr just told me to take before breakfast, so have been eating breakfast 10 to 30 minutes later!

I also take adrenavive after breakfast, usually straight after!

Maybe I am doing this not as well as I should be!?

Your Adrenavive will be fine with breakfast, that's when I take mine.

But thyroid meds should be as I mentioned, on an empty stomach, one hour before or two hours after food, and water only for one hour each side. Also, any other medication and supplements should be 2 hours away from thyroid meds (some need 4 hours). This is to ensure that nothing affects it's absorption.

We usually advise thyroid tests are done as early as possible in the morning, no later than 9am, and delay breakfast and any drink other than water until after the test.

Do you take just 1 x Metavive daily? If so then I would just alter your dose the day before your test so that it's 12 hours before the time of the test. If you take more than 1 x Metavive then I would split the dose, making your final dose 12 hours before the test.

Thank you for this information. I am actually on 5 Metavive II at present.

When I take the Adrenavive I after breakfast I also take Vit D, B Complex, Omega 3, Vit C , Selenium and K2 and DHEA all at once, one after the other, (about an hour after taking the Metavive II) Do any of these supplements interfere with Metavive absorption, Dr never told me about these timings.

Thank you very much for this information

Yes, your supplement timing isn't the best.

Vit D must be 4 hours away from thyroid meds.

All others 2 hours away from thyroid meds.

If you split your dose of Metavive then you'll have to work out the timings.
