Before anyone sends a kit back for thyroid plus vitamins

First time purchase from this company. Paid £79 for thyroid and vitamin test. Kit received in the post Thursday 1st October. Done test Monday 5th October to make sure test got back in 24 hrs. Received a text yesterday by the company saying “ Hi our lab has received your sample and are processing it, we will let you know when your results are ready - the Thriva team

Then tonight at 6:30 pm I get this email

We’re really sorry but the lab’s supply chain has been delayed, so they can’t process B12 (active and total), or Vitamin D tests at the moment.

Your test contains either B12 and/or Vitamin D, so please don’t post your sample back because we won’t be able to test it.

We’re working hard with our partner lab to make this test available for you as soon as possible. We expect the lab to receive their shipment very soon.

We’ll be in touch again on Wednesday 14th October with an update. Please don’t send back your sample before then.

Well that’s really great news paid all that money for what. Unless they send a new kit or refund my money IN FULL I will never use this company again. I really should have read the reviews on trustpilot first

The delay in the supply chain is not just an issue for this company , it's all the labs including NHS. it was on the news this AM. It is a delay in supply of reagents used for Roache make of testing machines and some kinds of testing kits. Helvella has posted about it earlier today .

Not at all good.

I suspect it could be to do with an issue Roche are having - and about which I posted earlier:

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Am very much not impressed that they have not provided an explanation (assuming it is this issue) as it has been widely reported. So they aren't really doing anything by not explaining - except upsetting you and anyone else.

If they advised when they sent the test I would have waited bit crap sending it after they know they have got the test back.

Also - a whole week for an update isn't very good.

Just hope people read before they send theirs back before next week

Don’t be too hard on them. Labs were only informed on Monday night. Their lab has probably put the brakes on all referral work as of Tuesday morning. Xx if theyre near the end of their monthly order I’d imagine some labs have a week or less of kit. This pandemic is dreadful with things going on back order but this seems to be a distribution problem. Kits are there they just can’t get them out. 😩

I did my annual Thriva test 2 weeks ago and had no problems at all. I would hope they can keep your blood chilled until they're able to run the test, but when there have been issues like this in the past, they've sent me a replacement blood kit free of charge.

I’m hoping they will 😔

They still gave me all the other results meantime, but I wonder if they'll hold off until they can do it all.

I suspect you getting the email after it arriving is just one automated system not talking to another. They'll have started emailing all outstanding patients before the post arrived or something like that.

I sent mine back this morning and then got the same email this evening. I’ve used them lots before (and Medichecks) but was seriously peeved when I got the email. Suppose I should cut them some slack if it’s a widespread problem. Still frustrating! Hope they still run the thyroid parts as I’m relying on a dose increase from these results!

I used Thriva for iron labs, but will not buy tests from them again - a waste of money as they are unreadable, even by experts.

I had an issue trying to read my results at work one time, which turned out to be an issue with our browser being out of date.

They can email you a reporting you ask (although I wish this was a default option on their site, as it is on Medichecks)

Why are they unreadable?

The ranges are ambiguous and different to other labs - even my GP couldn’t work out where my results sat in any helpful way.

Thriva have a very confusing way of showing their results when you look at the coloured bar graph. The trick is to look at the list of tests/results/range rather than the graphs.

You might be interested in this reply I've just made on another thread which explains them. Their ranges are, in fact, exactly the same as Medichecks and Blue Horizon.

My reply is the 6th response down, below one from SlowDragon.

I got my most recent results from them on 30th Sep so must have just missed this particular issue.

Always use them for my testing as a preference as their tests that include vit D are cheaper than elsewhere like Medichecks. Never had a problem with them to date either.

Does sound like they’ve maybe not handled this in the best way. Deffo worth getting in touch to ask about getting a new test kit or a refund.

I have a Thriva test. Was going to do it weds morning. Didn’t feel great so decided to hold off till next week.

I definitely must be a witch as I too got an email last evening to say “don’t send your sample yet”.

I’ve always been happy with Thriva so will not get too cross over this issue as I can see it’s not their fault.

I would hope they can keep your blood safe until they can do the test you paid for, or maybe they will send you another kit for the remainder of the tests when they are able to do them.

It is frustrating as I stopped my B complex a week ago and do need to make some decisions based on my results. But if I had to wait for an nhs test I’d be waiting a lot longer.

It’s been a long sad year so far and it looks like next year won’t improve much either. We’ll have the virus and not being able to get T3 from the EU (highly probable) to deal with.......Oh and continued ignorance from most GPs with regard to thyroid problems 🤨

I keep being told to stay positive, but I’m afraid the worry does keep creeping in......😣😶

Ha Ha , i must be a witch too ...last time i had a thyroid test booked a global pandemic was announced and this time i've got one booked all the reagents have vanished.

perhaps i should stop booking thyroid tests. for the sake of humanity.

Just a quick update got the below this morning about 20 minutes ago.

Hi Amanda,

Thanks for getting in touch. We're really sorry for any worry caused.

As you've already sent back your test, please don't worry. Our lab still have stock and they'll still be able to process your test. blush

We were only sending the email as we predict our lab will have run out of their current stock by next week.

We hope this reassures you. But let us know if you have any other questions.

and

They have now sent my results however the doctors comments have confused me.

I will post in a separate post.

You will probably find that once you contact them they will send out a replacement kit, it only costs them a small amount to do so.

I am sure they will send you a replacement kit.

I have had problems twice with my samples and they have sent a new test free of charge both times.
