Like so many on here - I ran out of 'Thiroyd' which I'd been importing for a couple of years from Thailand. I had been on 3 grains ( 3 tablets) a day and that was it -all was well, my bloods were good, I felt good.
So, I brought some Tru Thyroid (sold in 0.5 grain tablets) and started taking 6 of those a day. After a few weeks I started feeling undermedicated so I caved in and for the last 6 weeks I have been on 150mcg of Levothyroxine 4 days a week and 6 tablets (3 grains) of Tru Thyroid 3 days a week.
The bloods are just back and yet again - my surgery only did my TSH and I am chasing them for my FT3 and FT4! However the TSH is very interesting
My TSH is 2.5 (range 0.3-5) which is the highest it's ever been! I think this strongly suggests that the Tru Thyroid is doing little to nothing! What do you all think?
For comparison, when I was originally on just Levo I used to take 150 mcg x 3 days a week and 125 mcg of Levo 4 days a week - my typical results then would be:
TSH 0.5
Also note I am meant to be towards the lower end as I had Thyroid Cancer.
I have no idea if anyone can gauge / give an educated guess, from this high (for me) TSH result as to how undermedicated I may still be. I'm reluctantly thinking of ditching the Tru Thyroid completely and having to go back on to fulltime Levo or finding another fairly cheap NDT alternative.
Thanks
Melissa

This is what quite a few people have found, from what I've read here and elsewhere.
The producer of TruThyroid is apparently working on making improvements. Some people have contacted him with their results of before and after Tru Thyroid and it's very clear they've gone very hypo. He has accepted that there's a problem. You could get in touch with him with your evidence, I believe he is either refunding or sending out the new batch when ready.
I have emailed them - I went into my 'experiments' with it and then I specifically asked if they had any batch issues or had reports from people about it not being as strong as other NDT's. Their reply was:
"There are no batch issues. As for reports from individuals, they vary. A few report it is not working. Some report that they feel extremely hot after taking it. Most do not report anything at all, so we have no information.
"
There's no doubt in my mind that there is no way that 3 grains of Tru Thyroid is equivalent to 3 grains of the 'Thiroyd' NDT that I was on previously.
I am thinking of commencing 'Tru Thyroid experiment number 3' - I may try taking 8 tablets (4 grains) a day every day , dropping the Levo, seeing how I feel after a few weeks and get bloods redone to give me the numbers. Or I could stick to my combined regimen (4/7 Levo and 3/7 3 grain Tru) and up my grains to 4 instead of 3.
Whilst my TSH is the highest its ever been - its not out of range. Guess the safest option would be to stay combined and just up the Tru. Though ultimately I would like to go back on wholly NDT.
Would love to hear more about others experiences with this Tru thyroid!
I've been on Tru now approximately 3 months. I'm self-medicating based on my symptoms not lab results. I know I've been hypo for at least 15 years but my tests have always shown "normal". Haven't had any of the more specific thyroid labs done just the standard ones a typical primary care does.
Anyhow, you know, I will keep going until I run out of my supply, but I have to regretfully acknowledge that I haven't noticed anything significant on Tru yet. I take between 3-5 grains a day in addition to eating mostly healthfully and using some OTC supplements.
Im not sure if it's just me or if there is a lack of potency with Tru. I'll be switching back to Thyroid-S once I'm through with this batch of Tru and once it's available again.
Hi... i am so glad i found this post because i now know i am not alone. When i was in Bangkok in late 2019, i managed to get one of the last remaining bottles of Thiroyd. I went to Greater Pharma and was told that they would no longer be producing it. Gutted was an understatement because i did so well on Thiroyd. Then i heard about Tru Thyroid. Let me tell you that these are nothing more than sawdust made into pills. I tried these for about 6 months. I gained about 12kg and my TSH shot up to 11! My hair began to thin and all the usual hypo symptoms started. I increased from
4 tablets to 6 and give it 2 more months. Sadly, today my TSH came back as 16! So these pills are a fraud. I have switched back to synthetic t3/t4. Already i am feeling more balanced.
Question is, what the fudge do these pills contain? To anyone who is considering buying these tablets - DON’T BOTHER!!!!
