sweden doc & desiccated?

not getting anywhere in scotland with desiccated. terrified. can't believe am here again. work gig in sweden in a few weeks time - can anyone recommend a doc there who would see/ prescribe whole thyroid?

had more bloodwork done. things looking better all round but liver function half lower perimeter (thus not turning t4 into t3). have been talking liver pain for 5+ years now & everyone blows me off (had scan to no avail). any other long-termers have low liver function?

i hate thyroid - tired of jumping through windows because doctors keep slamming doors. was so naive when this started, really didn't anticipate the battle. getting harder to see doctors as anything but morons. does anyone feel good about their thyroid scenario?

Unlikely to get NDT in Scotland as you know but you can get T3 on the NHS.

German doc put me on levo & t3 but it didnt work. Because of my severe edema you can tell within a week.

They prescribe natural desiccated thyroid (armour brand) in Wales on the NHS. It helps about 50% of patients.

In beginning levo worked. then nz gov specialist took me off and after 5 years of extreme ill health i was fully tested by private doc & put on desiccated. immediate success. what uk docs do is torture. totally unjustifiable.

Few doctors in Sweden prescribe NDT as they have been told in med school levo is all that is ever needed. I know of a couple of doctors, but they all have long waiting lists (+6 months). So you are not likely to be able to find a doctor to offer you an appt in a few weeks´ time. Plus, NDT requires an application to be filled in by the doctor and sent to the competent authority. In order to qualify, you need to have been on levo for at least a year with "stable levels" (which probably means a normal TSH). The competent authority can then approve or reject your application. This procedure must be repeated once a year.

So I would not recommend going down that road.
