I've had some ongoing health issues and I've noticed that they mainly occur during or just after menstruation. In my effort to rule things out - would an early thyroid issue show symptoms only during this time? Or if I had thyroid issues would my symptoms show consistently across my cycle?
I've had tests and my T4 is too high but everything else (vitamins etc) is fine. My iron is at the lower end. I don't want to get into posting all my test results this time (have done that on a previous thread and received good advice). My current plan re the high T4 is to get another test in a few months time to see if anything has changed with T3 or TSH.
My query this time is simply about the patterns of thyroid symptoms and menstruation - can thyroid symptoms occur once a cycle for three days at a time or is this unlikely?

On the first few days of your cycle, your estrogen and testosterone levels will typically be at their lowest. It might be worth ruling out low estrogen or estrogen dominance as the cause of symptoms.

Hi, my symptoms are feeling generally unwell, weak, shaky, sometimes a little dizzy or unbalanced, sometimes a little nauseous, dry mouth, thirsty, feeling anxious, sometimes my heart rate is faster than usual, sometimes my stomach is very gassy, sometimes I get slight diarrhoea.
I am 48 so this could be perimenopause changes. I’m keen to explore all options.
I believe thyroid levels can and do fluctuate with menstruation and my doctor initially dismissed by thyroid results with this exact explanation. I'm still fighting as my results haven't improved but perhaps goes some way to explaining why us ladies find it so hard to receive a proper diagnosis.
Interesting. I suppose I will just keep monitoring and have another thyroid test in a few months time as mine was a bit inconclusive with the raised T4 but everything else well within normal. I hope you can get a diagnosis soon.
