Hello,
I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism 4 weeks ago all the following came back abnormal TSH 0.01, T3 9.9, T4 28 & Lymphocyte count 1.4.
I had been taking medication for IVF embryo transfer due to my partner previously having cancer a scan showed my uterus had fluid inside so the cycle was stopped for investigation (which I cannot have until my thyroid levels are under control) after this happened I went to my doctors who ran these blood tests - was given 50g Propylthiouracil twice a day. (IVF clinic told me my Thyroid test was fine in July 2019 TSH 1.04 - T4 12.5)
2 weeks later I ended up in A&E thinking I was having a heart attack my T3 was now 13 & T4 28 and had a heart rate of 117 - my dose was increased to 50g 4 times a day and labetalol twice a day. I am waiting for an endocrinology appointment and told I am on a waiting list due to Covid.
I booked a private appointment with an ENT consultant who has some background with thyroid problems as I started to panic that I could have thyroid cancer because my lymph nodes under my ears are swollen mainly the right one but for as long I can remember. He said he doesn't think the swelling is sinister but needs an ultrasound. He said my thyroid test last year was on the lower side of normal and that I probably have Hashimoto disease as I am coeliac.
I went back to my doctor and asked for an antibody test which the results came back today for (Se thyroid peroxidase Ab conc 9.IU/ml) it says it is normal according to the NHS but I have read on a functional doctors website anything above 2.IU/ML is treated as positive?
My doctor disagreed with the consultant and said that my thyroid tests in the past have always been on the higher side of normal so it is all very confusing and worrying It's really bad timing trying to get pregnant, I am 37 now so don't have time of my side - my fertility doctor said the fluid could be down to the thyroid.
I don't really know what questions I am asking but if anyone has thoughts on my situations I would be very happy to hear them.
Thank-you!
