Blood test results. Any help appreciated

I am currently on 50mg of propylthiouracil a day (started this dose on the 26th of September) I am just a bit confused with the results and how I'm feeling, I get chest pains which are very hard to explain, doctors say it's anxiety.

Help with questions for Endocrinologist

I was prescribed 100mg of Propylthiouracil. This was reduced to 50mg a day at my next check in (I can't remember when this was but not too long after diagnosis).

Over active thyroid and results

I do not know if I can cope another 6 months on anti thyroid medication, and that is if its not 18 months of just propylthiouracil. TIA Charlotte 🙂

Do I take anti-thyroid medication? Looking for advice

Take anti thyroid medication of propylthiouracil to see if this gets my levels back within range. I have several concerns: - Will starting medication mean I am going to be on meds for the rest of my life? - I’ve heard it can make you hypo then it’s more meds to rectify this?

First endo appointment

I’ve been taking propylthiouracil 200mg daily since November. I feel absolutely fine now. What should I be asking the endocrinologist?

New to site and would like some advice on results

I took nothing for 5 weeks had more bloods taken then was put on propylthiouracil 50mgs daily. I now believe that I’ve gone hypo again. I’m due more bloods at the end of the month. It appears I am flipping between hyper & hypo!! Is this possible? I just want to feel well again.

Over the phone appointments - TSH 2.0 on 100mg Propylthiouracil reduce to 50mg.

Hi after being on 100mg Propylthiouracil for just over 1 year (I reacted badly to Carbimazole prior to this with a horrendous rash), my endocrinologist has written to say my TSH is 2.0 and to reduce to 50mg per day for the next six weeks and have bloods taken again.

Can anyone decipher my recent thyroid bloods please

My TSH is 1.7 T4 14.4 T3 3.8 I was taking Propylthiouracil 50mg twice a day and have now been advised by the consultant to drop down to 50mg once a day. Does this mean I am sub clinical hypothyroid now and will this delay my embryo transfer in the new year?

Propylthiouracil - Safety of long term use.

I have been taking Propylthiouracil for a year now. I have been advised that I should now consider RAI or surgery as my consultant does not advise the continued long term use of medication in someone of my age (56). Does anyone have any experience of taking the medication long term?

THIONAMIDE-INDUCED AGRANULOCYTOSIS: A RETROSPECTIVE ANALYSIS OF 36 PATIENTS WITH HYPERTHYROIDISM

Methimazole was prone to causing more serious agranulocytosis than propylthiouracil. High thyroid hormone was unlikely to play a role in the ADR. Patient education is important. Keywords: agranulocytosis; antithyroid drug; hyperthyroidism; methimazole; propylthiouracil.

Triiodothyronine maintains cardiac transverse-tubule structure and function

They managed to induce the heart issues with just eight weeks of propylthiouracil (PTU). There are members who have had low thyroid hormone, including low T3, for years before receiving treatment. And all too many still have not got there.

Graves disease.

The medication (propylthiouracil) helped, but the Graves came back after 2 years. I took this again for a longer period and eventually was taken off of it. Five years ago, I became unwell and, after a battle, managed to once again get a diagnosis of Graves disease.

PTU (Propylthiouracil)

Has anyone been prescribed PTU (Propylthiouracil) for a low TSH? My TSH is 0.01, T4 11.5 and T3 5.8. My Endo wants to put me on this one as i am trying for a baby and it's the safe one. Has anyone had any side effects?

Unable to get medicine in UK

I have had an over active thyroid problem since 1989, for which I was prescribed Propylthiouracil by the Chinese specialists. Every year I go back to China and while there I see the doctor and get my medicine.
