Hi Seaside Susie, sorry for the delay. I have taken the 24 hour test twice before.

May 2018

6.45 am 12.75 (2.68-9.30) High

1.00 pm 5.93 (0.75-2.95) High

5.15 pm 1.68 (0.36-1.68) a bit high

10.15pm 0.80 (<0.94)

Then in Feb 2020

7.05 am 6.04 (2.68-9.30)

12.50pm 4.64 (0.75-2.93) High

5.20pm 1.27 (0.36 - 1.88)

10.20 0.63 (<0.94)

Although the second test looks superficially better I actually had less energy so wondered if I was at second stage adrenal fatigue when the adrenals are beginning to give up. Have increased my vit D since my March result and will now increase my B12. I didnt know about the different tests for B12.( or I had forgotten ). I have a bit more energy than in Feb when I had to stay in and rest every other day.

I appreciate that you want people to try everything else before trying T3 because other elements such as B12, D3, ferritin and folate are crucial to absorbtion of medication. I have redone my TSH, T3, T4 at your request and have been working on my adrenals for the past 4 months. I really feel I am ready to try T3. Please can I have permission to asks for advice on sourcing and taking T 3.

Thanks

Amanda

You don't need anyone's permission to ask for a supplier of T3, nor to take it, but the responses to your previous posts which show over range FT3 have suggested that T3 may not be a good idea.

I've explained that rT3 is a red herring with a myriad of reasons not connected to the thyroid and the only reason it could be connected to thyroid is when there is an excess of unconverted T4 which you don't have as your FT4 is only 53% through range.

Thank you for your advice. I appreciate what you are doing for me and the thousands of people that are struggling with Thyroid issues.

I would disagree that your second test looks better.

Your early morning cortisol has roughly halved in the second test compared to the first and is almost certainly an indicator of worsening adrenal function.

Your adrenals are trying to produce sufficient cortisol early in the day for the first sample. If they don't succeed in producing enough cortisol they don't give up, they keep trying. This would explain why your second sample in the second test is above range.

If you don't stop the rot your first sample of the test will reduce further, the second sample will also reduce, the third sample may end up high.

With these bursts of cortisol showing later and later in the day while earlier cortisol results get lower and lower, you eventually end up in a situation where all samples are low except possibly the fourth one which makes any insomnia absolutely terrible.

And then you end up with low cortisol all day.

...

Fixing the adrenals is not a quick thing to do, and is something with multiple parts to the process. It involves optimising thyroid, nutrients, diet, exercise (not too much, not too little), sleep (the hardest one of all in my opinion!)

Thank you so much Humanbean. I will look up those links and make notes. I have been taking 500 mg of adrenal cortex at breakfast and 250 at lunch and sometimes 100 about 4pm. I have seen an improvement in brain clarity and energy. I am also taking Estriol and progesterone by cream which also seems to be helping. This is why I am hoping to try T3. Thanks again.
