A while back I mentioned that I had found a UK company that makes levo without any additives in it. It is basically T4 suspended in almond oil with vitamin C as the preservative.
They would only tell me the cost if I got a private script, which I finally managed to do free off my GP... however, this scamdemic then hit and I didn't chase it up.
I finally got my finger out today and rang them to see what the cost is. I was pleasantly surprised. It's £40 for the equivalent of 25mcg (I think it's 1 ml, as it's a liquid).
I'm having huge issues trying to get Wockhardt (which is why I finally chased Roseway - the company concerned - up). I've just had to buy a month's worth of Wockhardt, which cost me nearly £60, as I have only 2 day's worth left and no sign of it in any pharmacies near me.
When I mentioned the Roseway brand a few months back, quite a few people asked me to post back once I found out the cost.
You do need a private prescription, but your NHS GP can do this (it just means they write it on a non-NHS script), and I think many will do it free of charge.
Hope this info is useful. With it getting more and more difficult to get brands of levo that don't cause adverse reactions, this may be an alternative - if you can afford it, of course.

As for the 25mcg, the £40 is a month's supply. If you normally take 50mcg, it would be £80 and so on - but it could well be less the more you take; I didn't ask - I've been a bit stressed today, so not firing on all cylinders.
I now take 50mcg levo, so I'd be looking at £80 a month. I'm ok with that, as I thought it would be more, TBH.
When it's really hot, I would keep mine in the fridge. If postage isn't included, I doubt it will be much, as the package will be quite small.
Have a look around their site for more info: rosewaylabs.com
They're pretty friendly, so you could always email them.
It's private. But you still need a prescription. I found an NHS document that states if the NHS don't supply the drug you need, the GP can write a private script free of charge. They need to get the wording right, but Roseway email exactly what you need to put on the script. I can post the exact format they sent me if anyone wants it.
Hi just read your profile, you've had a rough old time. I'm a Wockhardt user too, it's the only one I can tolerate. I also saw Dr P around 2013-15, and like you, had adrenal issues as well as Hashis.
I would like to try the Roseway T4, well done for researching that. I am also about to get private script for slow release T3, compounded, as am v sensitive to T3 and also fillers/binders.
Thanks for posting all the info, it's very helpful
This is what the Roseway email said when I asked exactly what the GP should write on the private script (it's based on me taking 50 mcg of T4, so bear that in mind if you take a different dose):
As discussed over the phone, your doctor should issue a new prescription for the compounded item. The prescription should be as follows:
Levothyroxine 25mcg/ ml suspension 30ml
1 ml to be taken daily.
I think you mention you are taking 50mcg now, if that is the case
Levothyroxine 50mcg/ ml suspension 30ml
1 ml to be taken daily.
Your doctor could add repeats to the prescription so you don't need to get a new one every month. This is based on her/his professional judgement and how stable you are on the medication.
I hope this helps.
With best wishes,
Miriam
