Self-sourcing Wockhardt Levo

Hi all - thanks in advance for any help.

I have finally been started on Levo and my new GP has agreed to add Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism to my NHS record. What a victory! At last I have options and the chance of getting a life back.

But I am keen to find out if I can source Wockhardt Levo myself - I think I am done with leaving my health in the power and hands of someone else. It seems to me that those here on the forum who are the most well are those that have taken their medication and monitoring into their own hands (or those who have the rare-as-hens'-teeth good endo/consultant/GP).

Please private message me if you know of any private sources for this brand of Levo.

So glad you’ve managed to win your epic battle with less than helpful GPs. Well done, you!

Wockhardt is prescription only. It's not a brand available by any of the known suppliers without prescription.

Thank you - that saves me some fruitless searching. Guess I will have to change brands if I want to go down the self-sourcing route then.

What dose levothyroxine have you been started on?

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in levothyroxine

50 micrograms starter dose and bloods booked for a few weeks time. I have enough meds for the time being and then will make a decision.

You can’t rush increasing dose….6-8 week’s minimum

Make sure you test as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Come back with new post once you get results

Thank you - I wasn't planning on increasing dose at all. I will re-test in 8 weeks and then go from there.

Why are you not planning to increase your dose? If you need it, you need it.

Because I have only just started taking the levo. When I have tested my thyroid panel again in 8 weeks from the start of taking them I will consider then if I need an increase. Step by step.

Well, that’s what we all do but stating that you don’t intend to increase your dose is a bit preemptive.

You have misunderstood me completely. I was simply responding to a comment that said 'You can’t rush increasing dose….6-8 week’s minimum'. Perhaps I should have written 'I wasn't planning on increasing my dose at all at the moment'.When I do my blood tests again I will increase, of course, if I need to.

How are you feeling on Levo now? 😊

Bless you for asking. Only just started so early days but excited to see what's next

It’s good to read you’re feeling so much more positive! Onwards and upwards now for you 😊 x
