Following several years of high TSH (5-11) showing on blood tests, I was finally given “a trial” of Levothyroxine.
Background is I had years of suffering with a big fat sore tongue. Swollen & raw. I was being passed from one specialist to another. Every time they took blood, this TSH was highlighted & letters sent to my GP. Further tests showed that my T4 & T3 was just in range, so it was ignored. Maybe because I’m Male and fit & active. It was only when the TSH hit 11 that I was given the “trial”.
As well as NHS blood tests, I paid for my own tests Pre medication & while on 50mcg, then 100mcg & 150mcg of Levo. My Free T3 didn’t increase at all, clear proof I didn’t convert any.
I showed it to my GP. He was impressed, but said it would be difficult for him to prescribe T3. TBH, I wouldn’t have wanted to go through the BS of dealing with NHS Endos either, so I told him I would go it alone. I’ve been buying my own T3 ever since & feel great.
If I could find a Private Endo who could legitimise my T3 use & Prescribe me, I’d do it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
