Blood labs results question

Hi everyone. I've been on T3 only now for about 7 weeks, came off T3/T4 combo (50 mcg T4, 5 mcg T3) and now on 12.5 mcg T3 only per day.

On levo, I was having severe conversion issues, body was basically converting the levo to reverse T3 and I was in a severe hypothyroid state.

Just had my first set of blood labs done by the endocrinologist and she only ordered TSH and free T3. My results were:

TSH: 2.53 mcIU/mL ( "normal" range 1.1 - 4.0)

Free T3: 3.49 pg/mL ("normal" range 2.6 - 4.0)

I apologize for not knowing what measurements you use in the UK. But you can see by my numbers and the ranges here that it seems my TSH is high for someone who is on T3 only. I was under the impression TSH typically drops considerably when a person is taking T3.

I've been feeling great. Just wondering if anyone might understand why my TSH would still be high?

Feeling good and functioning is definitely more important to me than blood lab numbers but I'd still be interested if anyone has any insight. Endocrinologist obviously thinks everything is perfectly normal since I'm within her ranges.

Thank you!

12.5 mcg T3 only is a miniscule dose. And your TSH is reflecting that. But, if you feel good, then that's what counts. However, if you start feeling symptoms creeping back in, just increase your dose. But, don't worry about the TSH. :)

Thank you for that. Seems like no matter how I feel, if I see numbers that are a little off, I get nervous and start searching the web and find no answers lol. Always seem to find answers here, though. Thank you again, I've been feeling pretty good so I am not going to worry.

You're welcome. :) There's really nothing to worry about, and we always feel better if we stop worrying.

I take T3 only and my TSH is similar to yours which is within normal range.

It doesn't need to be very low to feel well. My T3 is similar to yours 8 hours after taking my T3 according to bloods so I would say if you feel well be happy 😊
