Im just wondering if people have any similar issues like i do with vitamin d supplements.
I have a underactive thyroid but last year started to suffer from tiredness, brain fog and some weird things i cant explain in words but felt like i could feel heat moving around my body when i moved, especially after sitting still for long time then tried moving.
But after a blood test i found vitamin d was on the low 20,s.
Docs give me 50000iu a week but give me bad ache in my body so i cut down to 25000iu a week.
Cut the story short i felt amazing after 4 weeks. I was feeling really good after a week infact. Anxiety issues disappeared.
Nurse told me im all good after blood test showing vitamin d at 80. Told me not to take supplements anymore.
But now i started feeling the symptoms again but not as bad.
But when i take 800iu 3 times a week i get mental side effects.
Like one time i felt as if i was trapped inside my body and need to get out. Its weird.
When i stop the supplements i feel better but i started taking them again and start to feel mentally not right again.
I need the vitamin d but dont understand what to do. Tryed different companies but still get the symptom.
Im trying to get more vitamin from the sun which helps but doesnt cure my problem.
Any help will be appreciated. Maybe someone knows a certain company that will suit me better or know what chemical in the supplement is causing the issues.
Thank you.

Improving vitamin levels helps thyroid hormones work better so you may need dose change
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Do you have Hashimoto’s?
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
You may need to get full Thyroid testing privately as NHS refuses to test TG antibodies if TPO antibodies are negative
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
Thanks for your reply, I dont have hashimoto's. Will have a look into doing a full thyroid blood test. I want to wait until this coronavirus business is over with. Im from the UK i wonder where i can get a private blood test from. Im in south Yorkshire, will google it. Appreciate your time
I find the same thing as well. Affects my menral balance when I take vit d. I sleep less well and am more 'in my head' if that makes sense. Perhaps that's some sort of anxiety? I find the vit d spray suits me better than the tablets.
For some reason this post just came up on my timeline it’s probably not a problem for you anymore but thought it worth replying just in case you didn’t get to the bottom of it. Make sure you get enough magnesium (which is depleted when we are under stress, along with other things) a multivitamin only gives you a tiny amount and vitamin D reduces magnesium which can cause many, many problems including anxiety. Magnesium also helps you absorb vitamin D if you’re low in it and if you have too much vitamin D magnesium helps to regulate it. There’s lots about the importance of magnesium/vitamin D online.
