Do you mean VitD ?

in reply to Marz

No the D3 Enzyme which contributes to rT3

Have you had a google ? I think I am right in saying rT3 as a test has been dis-credited ...

in reply to Marz

Yes by some it has but primarily the D3 Enzyme prevents T3 releasing in the cells

A third deiodinase (D3) inactivates T3 or T4 by removal of an inner ring iodine.

I have not found anything whatsoever about DIO 3 preventingT3 releasing in cells. (Not actually sure what that means.)

I assume that you are asking about one of the deiodinases described on this link, but I'm not sure which one (and I could be wrong with my assumption anyway).

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iodot...

I have never seen a test for any of the deiodinases, and have never seen anyone claiming to have a result for such a test.

Yes all connected, thank you

Can you explain to us why you want this tested? Is it really of any value?

in reply to greygoose

Yes hugely for folk like myself as D3 Enzymes prevent T3 from binding with receptors in the cell nuclei

I don't think it does.

Are you confusing it with rT3 supposedly blocking T3 receptors? rT3 doesn't do that, either. It used to be thought that it did, but now we know it doesn't.

D3 enzymes don't have anything to do with receptors, as far as I know.

in reply to greygoose

Not confused

No, I didn't say you were confused. I suggested you might have confused one thing with another. But, I could be wrong. In which case, it would be a kindness on your part to explain further - I'm willing to learn. I've just never heard of such a thing as D3 enzymes blocking T3 receptors, and I'm pretty widely read. And, obviously no-one else has heard of it, either. So, this would be your chance to educate us further. What exactly has your endo said?

Can you explain more please?

in reply to RedApple

I have tried to above and for me I am totally overloaded with fluid which is not shifting by T3. I know there is a problem with communication within my cells causing them to hold onto fluid.

How much T3 are you taking ? If you have ISTH you will need lots !

Rosedaisy, 'D3 Enzymes prevent T3 from binding with receptors in the cell nuclei'

Please point us at some references for this statement so that we can better understand.

I am not a medical expert this is what my Endocrinologist is looking into and the NHS do not undertake these tests hence my asking about the test

'the NHS do not undertake these tests'

You seem confident that 'these tests' do actually exist. If this is the case, it's likely they are not available through any normal routes. Most private testing companies only offer 'popular' tests, because these are the ones that are profitable. I doubt it will be listed on labtestsonline.org.uk, but worth checking if you haven't already.

I always feel under attack whenever I ask a question on here rather than supported which I understood to be the point. I have very rare diseases and am disbelieved and go untreated by enough medical professionals I do not need this on here too. I had hoped that someone knew about them, clearly they don't and therefore I could have shared what information I found out and share what treatment is available to help others who may also unfortunately suffer in the same way I do.

I feel this is not going to be possible on this site so I shall no longer participate

We are just trying to understand. You are trying to gain information from us about something we don't generally come across. So we need more information from you. There is no 'attacking' going on. This is a patient to patient forum. If we patients don't have any answers for you, it's not because we don't want to help, but because we don't understand your situation.

Why not ask your Endocrinologist about the test and where to get it 😷

@Rosedaisy, I am aware you have stated here and in your report, that you no longer wish to participate in this forum. However, in the hopes that you may still at least be reading the comments on your own post, I have a suggestion. There's an extremely knowledgeable blogger, Tania Smith at Thyroid Patients Canada. Maybe she can help. Perhaps have a look at her blogs in case there's anything that might relate to your situation. Or you could try contacting her to see if she can help with your question, The contact link is here thyroidpatients.ca/home/con...
