Stig5882, I prefer softgel capsules to tablets as the oil will aid absorption of D3. I was prescribed ProD3 which are available OTC but expensive. I've used Now Foods and currently using Doctor's Best. Solgar are a good brand but I've not used their D3.

If you shop online please use either of the links below:

I've been taking Solgar softgel capsules for about 6 months, and they have worked well. I was taking 10000 IU per day, and have had 3 blood tests to make sure I didn't overdo it. I now have an optimal level, and will take smaller amounts on an ongoing basis.

Dolphin5 have you made a typing error or do you mean you took 10,000 IU per day or do you mean 1000 ?

Asking as the tablets come in 1000 doses :/

I definitely meant 10000iu. If you google it you'll find it. I've just checked - in fact I'll send you a pm with the link.

Good luck!

One more important point - Vitamin D supplements can reduce absorption of Thyroxine, so if you take that, leave several hours before you take the Vit D.

Thanks for your reply dolphin5 :) I am on T3 only but I only take that at night and take vitamins around midday.

Good to hear you are now at optimal levels and I now know Solgar is a good product. :)
