D3 supplimenting

As I a Hashimoto's I often see that it's important to take optimal doses of D3 daily. I also have to wear 50 factor SPF on my face because of solar keratosis. I have been taking high doses especially through the winter, but my latest blood test shows I' m too high Serum total 25-hydroxy vitamin D level (Xabo0) 167 nmol/L [> 51] - At risk of toxicity, consider discontinuation of Vit D supplements.

I have CFS so I get very tired . I take high doses of b12 and suppliment with many other important suppliments ( for thyroid)

So any advice please?

Thank you

How much vitamin D have you been taking

Suggest you reduce dose substantially. Retest in 2-3 months

Trial and Error what maintenance dose each person requires

What dose do you take? My maintenance dose is 5,000iu daily but I was originally severely deficient with a level of 15nmol.

The Vit D Council , Vit D Society and Grassroots Health all recommend a level between 100-150nmol, some are fine with 100, some prefer to be nearer 150, you need to find what level is best for you to maintain.

You are a little over the top of the recommended range so why not just drop off a couple of doses a week, say supplement Monday to Friday and have weekends off? You could retest in 3 months to see what difference it makes. As you have to use SPF 50 then it's likely that you may not need any seasonal changes.

Presumably you also take D3's important cofactors - magnesium and Vit K2-mk7?

II was also on 5,000 iu.

I wouldn't leave it off, I think there would be quite a rapid drop in your level. My suggestion is to just reduce the amount and the cheapest way is to use 5,000iu a couple of times less per week.

No don’t leave it off. I did that due to all sorts of things distracting me and my hard won levels dropped off pretty dramatically.
