You are probably taking too much of one of them. Novothyral didn't work for me because of the proportion T4//T3. Now I am taking Levo+Liothryronin (T4/T3), but separately, so that you can raise one of them without raising the other. MUCH better. And works better on fT3 too.
Hey thanks alot how much are you on at present and personal question how much you weigh because that's how you get a dose right but I'm so fed up and so poorly I just want a good day I've was diagnosed with graves and im hypo, but had near total thyroidectomy, could you tell me how much you take and please guide me , because I was thinking to take half and quarter of novothyral so it will be 11.25 t3 and 56 t4
Hallo, I am about 70kg and taking about 112mcg T4 and 5-10mcg T3. But everyone is different. The amount depends also on other hormonal interactions and other factors. I have secondary hypothyroidism which is quite rare.
As you will see from our post yesterday your own thyroid would have been producing T3 and T4 on a daily basis, so it does make sense to replace like with like and prescribing you a combination of these two essential thyroid hormones seems a sensible first step.
It is a fine balance, but roughly speaking a fully functioning thyroid would be supporting you on a daily basis with about 100 T4 + 10 T3. As previously discussed if your vitamins and minerals are not optimal your body will struggle to utilise these vital hormones.
Did you private consultant run any tests before he prescribed the Novothyral ?
Do you have any other results you can share with us ?
Yes that is suppressed and probably not good unless you have a specific clinical need like thyroid gland tumour risk
Based on my own combo therapy and some scientific / research data that ratio of t4 t3 in the pills you were prescribed isn’t physiological - 15 t3 is probably too much; 5 or even 2.5 is a better start point and may well be all you need.
Healthy thyroid production rates give the equivalent of about 100 mcg t4 and 5-7 mcg t3 doses, with resulting ft4 about 15-16 and ft3 about 4.5 and TSH about 1 - 1.5.
Seems sensible to at least aim at those figures and see how we feel and test after a couple of months.
You can get symptoms like that if adrenals need supporting or vitamins/iron is low. You won’t know if that was the correct dose if any of the above are not optimal.
