Have re-read your previous posts/threads - have you ? Think everyone who helpfully replied is still waiting for anti-body results. Could be Hashimotos and not Graves ...

in reply toMarz

Thy peroxide’s ab, 33 rag 0-60 and that’s normal , to confusing for me

So Anti- TPO is the NHS test they do for Hashimotos. You need the Graves anti-bodies tested as explained in your earlier posts.

How long have they been treating you for Grave's without testing for it? That is most unprofessional. You must insist on TRAB or TSI testing to see if you actually have Grave's. Those labs do not suggest Grave's at all.

Yea think it was tsi one that was normal, will have to ask about the other

Did you check that it was TSI they tested? You only need one tested, you don't need TRAB as well. If TSI was negative, you don't have Grave's and they are giving you the wrong treatment.

in reply togreygoose

Yes it was ‘Tsh I think they have come back normal

TSI not TSH ...

in reply toMarz

Oh not sure just the one I put up in the other comment at the top and that was normal

Was on for a month then had to stop due to red and white cells went low so then started pTU for a week now . On the letter it said diagnose was hyperthyroidism , but I phoned today for my t3 result and said it was normal so I asked if I was on right treatment as read that t4 and t3 need to both b high, he then just said it was expected graves. So I then phoned back and said how is that when he had not tested for the other test , so I am going to my doctors tomorrow to see what is going on as I can’t cope

'Expected Grave's' is not acceptable. There are the antibody tests to verify if it's Grave's or not. And, he should not be treating you unless he is certain as to what you've got.

The antibody test you mentioned above is for Hashi's, not Grave's. I have a sneaking suspicion that your endo has no idea what he's doing, so you really have got to take charge of the situation, or he's going to make you very ill. Don't want to scare you, but better you face that fact now, rather than later. :)

TSH is a hormone, not an antibody. I think you ought to read your results very carefully, and give full details on here. You've got to learn about these things if you want to get your health back. :)

in reply togreygoose

I did have one done which was normal but I guess that was not the right one , so will b asking for it tomorrow

Yes, you had TPOab done. That is for Hashi's, not for Grave's.

For Grave's, you need TRAB or TSI. If I were you, I'd write that down and make sure you have it with you when you see the doctor. You can't rely on your memory at the moment, that's quite normal, so make sure you always have a little notebook and a pen with you at all times, to write things down. Write down your doctor's response. :)

I shall do thank you😌

To keep it simple

To confirm Graves’ disease (autoimmune hyperthyroidism) they MUST test TSI or Trab antibodies

Link about antibodies

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_...

Hashimoto’s (autoimmune hypothyroidism) is diagnosed by high TPO or High TG antibodies

NHS tested TPO and they were under 60 so negative

You would need to get TG Thyroid antibodies testing privately as NHS refuses to test TG antibodies if TPO antibodies are negative

Hashimoto’s frequently starts with temporary hyperthyroid phase ....

Or you can have both hashimoto’s and Graves’ disease at same time. This can be more complex.Treating by block and then replace

With both Graves and hashimoto’s you need vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin tested

Often very low and improving these can improve symptoms

Will see what doctors says tomorrow , it’s to much to take in

Make sure you write down the Reply from SliwDragon with all the information. It's too much for anyone to remember- but it is VERY important. Hope your GP is good on thyroid.

Yes of course - it's confusing - so follow the advice here. People are only trying to help you get the correct diagnosis as we have read of people getting the wrong diagnosis due to inadequate testing - and incorrect testing.

tsh or tsi?

Tsh receptor antibody , don’t that stand for trab ,? And came back normal 0.6 .

Yes, it is TRab.

I do not know the reference range for the laboratory that did your test so can make no comment on whether or not it is "normal".

On my online results it did say normal on it so I guess that it’s normal and the doctor also said it was as I asked them to do another one but this was only taken on the 7 jan in hospital so said there was no need ,
