It would be a lovely New Year if the 'organisations' overhauled their guidelines so that the patients' welfare/health comes before a static TSH result considering it is from the pituitary gland. We need occasionally the FT4 and FT3 to be tested if patient not improving. It would be even better if doctors were allowed to prescribe the combination i.e. T4/T3 to see if it resolves disabling symptoms.

I agree with Shaws.I think that T3 Liothyronine should be available for thyroid patients to try when T4 Levothyroxine alone does not improve their health.

It was not until I was referred to an Endocrinologist who prescribed a combination of T4/T3 that my health improved considerably.

I hope that the symptoms of this dibilitating condition can be improved for all UK sufferers via the NHS in 2020.People should not have to be searching across the world to buy medication which is not even guaranteed to be of a reliable quality.

I wish good health for you all in the coming year.

Quite a number of research teams have proven that a combination of T4/T3 can work wonders in relieving symptoms. I doubt the professionals read any research which could help patients enormously.

Yes it does feel as though we are banging our heads against a brick wall at times.

When I read posts, I continually ask myself why there seems to be such a lack of willingness for GPs to question whether hypothyroidism is causing problems for so many.

I think the least they could test - even if patient doesn't show many signs and GP (he/she's) a bit puzzled, is to check the TSH and FT4 and FT3 first before prescribing for anti-d's etc.
