I just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to reply to my previous post about my balance issues.
It was very overwhelming having so many replies and as i work a 12 hour shift and have brain fog and my concentration is non existant it's taken me this long to read all the replies.
I had my drs appointment on monday and she still has no idea what is wrong although she now believes me when i say i'm not dizzy, as she started to do the eply manoever on me and could see that my eyes were not moving at all. She has reffered me to ent but said the waiting list is a year๐
So i'm to carry on with the nasal spray and she said to try some tablets for menieres disease which i haven't taken yet as they're for feeling dizzy and i'm not dizzy ๐
Again thankyou for all the advice ๐

Oh Iโm glad your GP has done that test and now believes you when you say you are not dizzy. That must be half your battle sorted. Just hope you are seen in less than a year.
I'm sorry you havent had much joy with your GP it all sounds depressingly familiar unfortunately. They often have good intentions but its out of their remit. I was given the Menieres tablets as well. But as you aren't dizzy I doubt they'll do much good. I wonder if its worth asking for any blood tests as both low B12 and low iron can cause balance issues and lightheadedness.
The other good tip I was given is dont wear squashy shoes, ie the soft ones often with memory foam in. These will make your balance even worse. The feet have a lot of nerves and receptors in them and need to have good contact with the floor to send signals to the brain. Try and wear a pair with a firm sole.
Have you been through a period of sustained stress, panic attack or had an ear infection recently. There's a condition called Persistent Postural Perceptual Dizziness or PPPD for short. Its where there is a software error between the brain and the balance system, the messages get a bit scrambled and the brain gets confused. Its certainly sounding a possibility. It often responds to SSRI medication and vestibular exercises.
I'm not aware of a recent ear infection but did wonder if it could be stress related. My dog has been poorly for a year now and the vet is no closer to knowing what's wrong ๐ค
I'm so sorry about your woofer ๐โ๐ฆบ, bless him/ her, pets can be such a worry, hope you get some answers soon. Maybe google PPPD and see if it matches your symptoms. There is a strong link between anxiety/ stress and vestibular symptoms.
I changed vets a couple of weeks ago and she said she wanted to test the thyroid, TSH and T3 as you can't tell from just testing TSH, and I thought why don't Dr's know this! ๐All results came back fine and B12 aswell.
Hi are the tablets you've been given called prochlorperazine? or the buccal version. If so they are also prescribed for Menier's and are what I'm taking. They are good for correcting your response to sickness (and dizziness) plus weird perception in the brain. I'm not dizzy but they work very well for me. I have thickened fluid in the ear canal and the nausea is overwhelming. without them I cannot continue to work. Best of luck
I've been prescribed Betahistine, the Dr who prescribed them said to take them when I have symptoms, I said I have off balance symptoms all the time when I'm stood up! I don't feel sick at all just off balance. The Dr I saw on Monday said they probably won't help at all but as I've got them take them anyway ๐
Ask for the stuff I'm on - it works, esp for what you seem to be describing - a disconnect between what your senses are telling you and what your brain is receiving. Mine is caused by thickened liquid in the balance tubes from a viral infection. Weirdly I didn't notice the viral infection much at all, just felt a bit off colour for a couple of days.
Hi there, I've just discovered this, which seems to perfectly describe my vertigo/balance issues. I didn't realise that not all migraines result in a headache - just other problems. I took paracetamol this morning out of desperation, not expecting it to make much difference, and my vertigo went and my brain cleared. asha.org/articles/dizziness... .
