Can I just say I'm " blown away " by all those on here, who tirelessly give so much of themselves, to other people struggling with poor health ;
You are all amazing and just felt like saying that today :
I don't know about anyone else but I'd just like to send hugs to the Thyroid uk team and all of those unsung Heroes involved in making this such an amazing forum for all of us to freely and safely use, and to speak and contribute on..

Couldn't have put it better myself, unsung heroes everyone of them - where would we all be without this forum and the fantastic help, advice and time given freely.

Second the motion .@ Greygoose is a very caring knowledgeable member and great contributor to our forum. She gives so much of herself to in better others well-being.
I agree pennyannie and what really annoys me is the medical profession should be taking thyroid disease much more seriously. This disease affects your whole body and I was misdiagnosed by my GP practice for over 2 years. I dread to think how many other people are in a similar position and don't have the resources that we have on this site. I actually found out I had something wrong with my thyroid on a hair loss site when another member pointed out my TSH was too low. I then was then directed to Elaine Moore's site and she told me what was wrong with me after my surgery had told me I was suffering from the menopause. Not once have they apologised for getting my diagnosis wrong. I no longer trust them with my thyroid health because they simply haven't got a clue about thyroid disease. My doctor admitted to me once he knew nothing about it. If I was a GP and I knew nothing about thyroid disease I would be reading up on it but I suppose he has other more pressing things to deal with like colds etc. I have spent the last 10 years reading everything I can about my disease because I have had to because I was getting no help from the NHS. I really wish things would change for us but I can't see that happening in the near future unfortunately.
I send them all lots of hugs. You rightly call them heroes. It is amazing how a cohesive society can be created by a few selfless individuals. We are all indebted to them.
My GP told me he would be struck off if he gave me Levothyroxine because my TSH was within range. I sat infront of him with a balding head my nails lifting off their beds and he just wasn't interested in symptoms just the TSH! Not once has he even examined me to see if I have any symptoms and the only doctor who has actually given me a physical examination was Dr Gordon Skinner.
Jesus Christ that's awful!! Why the hell did these people even bother to get into medicine if they can sit there and do nothing in the face of someone's suffering?
To each and every one who has helped ,advised, reassured me and so many others on this forum, I am so indebted,
And also to everyone who has shared their stories and struggles ...... it is so wonderful to feel we are not alone , and the invaluable help and advice is hugely appreciated.
Well said that woman , and i'd like to give an extra big hug to the very small group of Admin's , who as far as i can work the rota's out , must spend a very large portion of their week locked in a cupboard under the stairs tirelessly answering the same question whilst still maintaining a sense of humour.
And just to say before this forum I didn't even know how to read my own test results. What is T4? T3 The difference between total and free? Ranges? Whaaaat?? So I had no power to challenge anything or even discuss my treatment with a doctor. I had no idea what tests to look for, the importance of vitamins....nothing. I was absolutely clueless.
Made to feel like I was going insane and treated as mentally ill by all the GPs I saw. I am so so grateful to those on this forum who have helped and PM me and offered tips, advice, listened to me complaining, and even given me meds when running out. You know who you are, you amazing people♥️
I guess that's part of the reason why I felt I had to say something :
I dip in and out, and give back where I think I may help someone else as I'm so grateful :
But the commitment of the Admin and back room support is what makes this forum the amazing place it is, and I seriously am lost for words by the kindness and knowledge continually offered to every one of us - irrespective of who, what, or where we are in this World.
