At last some positive change since Concordia was brought to trial and the gates have been opened to more companies to supply the UK with liothyronine....
In June 2017 the price to the NHS (taken from electronic online NHSBA drug tariff) for 28 liothyronine 20mcg tablets was £258.20p
Fast forward to November 2019 it went down to £173.86
And on January 2020 drug tariff lower still it will be at £165.18
still 'extortionate' prices and far over the price for levo but we are heading the right way anyway.....

Still absolutely ludicrous and shows why the NHS is struggling. It costs a few euros in France and across Europe. I live in hope of more reductions and less corruption.
I very much doubt it will get cheaper just because we leave the EU.
Criminally expensive T3 is, as far as I know, a uniquely British problem. There are other EU countries where T3 can be prescribed e.g. France and Germany, and the price of it is a fraction of what it is in the UK.
Do you have to go there or do they supply on line and post, it would be helpful to know details for us that need it and can’t get prescribed. Could you PM me Rosiemeadows, thanks.
I went there for a weeks holiday Stayed in Chanda Got my T 3 from a small pharmacy off the beaten track! However my GP prescribes them for me on the NHS
Legitimate overseas pharmacies wont supply by online. T3 is mean to be prescription only in Greece and the islands and has been that way for a couple of years.
There are online suppliers (who are not pharmacies) but there are some unscrupulous ones and lately we are hearing more stories of one online supplier taking money and not delivering, and another who is not responding to people's enquiries after they have ordered.
Be extremely careful with online suppliers, check with myself or another of the Admin team before ordering and parting with any money.
Did you have any problems finding it there? I recently managed 7 boxes from one pharmacy in Santorini, but another one I tried there didn't have any at all. Then managed another 7 boxes across about 12 pharmacies in Athens. A few didn't have any, and most would only sell me one box. No prescription needed though, and just over 2 Euros a box.

But the German pharmacies do go online and then post out that’s what I was meaning
Yes, the German pharmacies are legitimate pharmacies and there is an agreement where they will supply liothyronine, with a UK prescription, whilst we are in the EU.
Rosiemeadows was talking about buying over the counter from a pharmacy in Crete without prescription whilst she was on holiday:
Just got back from Crete.€1.20 for 30 tablets !!!! No script needed!
This is how many of us who don't get T3 prescribed have obtained it in the past without a prescription - either by walking into a Greek pharmacy and buying over the counter (before it became prescription only) or using a "supplier" who will supply without prescription (and are not pharmacies, they are "suppliers", basically "dealers" for want of a better word).
These pharmacies may supply tourists with the odd box here and there but they don't supply liothyronine online like the German pharmacies where you send your UK prescription.
Good to hear from you again nobodysdriving and also good that the price for Liothyronine is falling at last. Although I am now on NDT as couldn't go on any longer with Levo. Much better now (apart from knees) with better blood results. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year. I hope you are well.
Thanks for responding. I'm ok for the moment. I was forward thinking prompted by the discusion.as my current t3 prescription is provided by a private practioner and I am concerned at what to do if he retires. But one step at a time.
