So after my tsh of 0.01, then approx 18 4 weeks later and 7.1 (0.34-5.6) 2 weeks after that. Dr has told me it is transient thyroiditis. I've been unwell several months/years so burst into tears at this point and explained I was too tired to go to work 4 days in the last 2 weeks having to take annualleave or work at home, too tired to read my kids a story last night or watch any TV without falling asleep in 5 mins. Also that I've been unwell on and off for years, some of which I've discussed with Dr in past. I have found strict diet adjustments in past have made me much better.
My medichecks test showed thyroglobulin antibodies high, below range vit d and low vit B. (Dr not really seeming to consider these)
I had decided (before today's appointment) to do an Aip diet (again) , and started that, vit d, vit B, vit c, and trying an anti microbials (recommended by natural nutritionalist about a year ago but never followed through as was feeling better with diet and probiotics) and planning professional strength probiotics followed by high strength ones once antimicrobials finished. I was hoping that I may also get levo from Dr. I've started yoga and trying to give myself a bit of time for myself each week, which I have been lacking.
So Dr first said didn't need anything, when I burst into tears they have given me..
25mg of levo for 4 weeks - retest after 6 and Dr appointment after 8.
Told me Not to continue with strict diet. (as she couldn't tell whether it was that or the levo that helped)
Told me just to take standard multi vit with zinc, not high dose of vit d and B.
Also adjusted duties at work, to work from home 3 days a week for 4 weeks.
I've taken the rest of the day off work sick, first sick day in over a year (still feeling guilty!)
My worries..
Levo is too low. Will that make any difference?
Stopping diet, I know will make me unwell! Feel. Upset just thinking about it. I think I will go back to my standard diet, of no Gluten, no cows milk, no potatoes, no corn, low sugar but include some grains (red or wild rice, quinoa) include tomatoes and other night shades, fruit, honey which I would have excluded. Basically to diet I could live on happily, without lots of exclusion then maybe add in some corn, potatoes and sugar the week before the next blood test. Sound sensible?
What to do about vits? Do what she suggests but also top up D and B and just check not going over?
Am also just feeling quite down, cant afford xmas, single mum and overwhelmed with everything I have to do at home and working full time, my car also broke this week. I would like to have some more energy - any ideas - anyone got any spare energy, or tips? Sorry for being so depressing lol! I probably just need a plan.
Thank you for your support, it's really comforting to not be the only one with these struggles.

Oh dear. She really doesn't know very much about anything, does she!
Dr has told me it is transient thyroiditis.
That's more likely to be wishful thinking on her part, because she really doesn't want to treat you, does she.
My medichecks test showed thyroglobulin antibodies high
The NHS will not accept that TgAB can be high with lower TPOab and still indicated Hashi's. But, it happens - happened to me. TgAB in the 1000s and TPOab just over-range. How high was your TgAB?
25mg of levo for 4 weeks - retest after 6 and Dr appointment after 8.
So, let's see if I've got this right? 25 mcg levo for for weeks - which is too low a dose (starter doses are 50 mcg) and not for long enough (it takes six to eight weeks for the full effects to be felt). Then two weeks with nothing before testing? What's the point of that? You'd be back to square one.
Looks to me like she's really setting you up to fail here, so that she can say 'you see? levo doesn't help you so it's not your thyroid'! If she'd left you on 25 mcg for six weeks, then your TSH might have risen, rather than falling as it's supposed to do. So, that wouldn't serve her purposes. And, if she'd started you on 50 mcg, you might have started to feel better, which really isn't what she wants. So, either she's incredibly ignorant or incredibly cunning. Difficult to know which.
A good plan would have been: 50 mcg for 6 weeks, then retest and dr appointment.
Told me Not to continue with strict diet.
That's a difficult one, because I can see her point. But, when you say 'strict', what exactly does that mean? Strict in what you eat? Or in how much you eat?
Told me just to take standard multi vit with zinc, not high dose of vit d and B.
Now, there, she's really showing her ignorance - or, is it another cunning ploy? A standard multi-vit will contain iron, which will mean that you won't absorb any of the vitamins, which could make you feel worse, and she'll then be able to blame it on the levo. A multi-vit will also contain things like iodine and copper which could also make you feel worse. Personally, I think that's very, very bad advice, and you should ignore that.
I think I will go back to my standard diet
Diet is a very personal thing. Absolutely no point in eating things you don't like or which make you feel bad. Everyone adapts their diet to suit themselves, even people that are well and healthy. So, unless she has anything that is verfiably helpful and intelligent, just ignore that, too. Doctors know nothing about nutrition, they don't 'do' it in med school.
I would like to have some more energy - any ideas
I wish I had! I could do with some energy myself. But, have you had your ferritin tested? Low ferritin will deplete your energy levels. Do you take vit C? That might help. And coenzyme Q10 is supposed to give you energy - although it never helped me, I have to say. But, then, I'm 74, and you're a young woman, so it might act differently for you.
Diet I had stated was the autoimmune protocol, restricting a whole load of stuff then reintroducing again (no grains, no sugar, no nightshade, no Gluten, no dairy, limiting fruit) not for weight, to check/identify if there are any other things that I'm intolerant of.
However, I've done it before (or at least similar) and my standard diet is already limited really. But I'm sure I need to at least follow my own diet, in the past when I told the Dr they told me to go and have a bacon sandwich and chocolate lol - I did not ferl well afterward follow that advice. I enjoy the food I do eat, loads of good quality meat, roasted veg, fruit., tea with honey. I know most stuff I can't eat - it was just to reset, check if I've missed anything. I'll continue to exclude what I don't think I'm great with which is basically gluten, gluten free alternatives breads etc, cows milk but can eat goats, some grains (corn) , potatoes, refined cane sugar. Fruit is all OK even large quantities, but not lots of dried fruit/fruit bars but a the odd date is OK, so I'll just do what I think but keep a check on any new symptoms with foods, rather than restrict further, but I won't reintroduce the things I know have caused me problems in past. Maybe in the future I'll be able to.. I've found lemon water is helping with my sore throat, and I think soaked linseed is always good ill keep doing that.
I do think the microbial can make you feel a bit rubbish, so that might not be helping me but at the mo I think it's good to do them.
So ill trus myself with my diet, not the diet or the doc.
I'll ignore what she says about multi vitamins.
Shes suggested zinc, I'll maybe look into that.
My ferritin looked OK from medichecks 51.8 (13-150)
Ill call up after the 4 weeks to get more levo, she didn't tell me to but that's the only sensible thing. I'll do it a week before in case I have to go in, perhaps they'll make me burst into tears again .
I've got vit c in my super vit b supplement. I'll check levels.
Thank you. Most of what you've said is exactly what I was thinking.
I don't know why I'm so down atm. At least it's nearly the weekend.
Maybe I'll try coenzyme q10. Thank you.
Probably just getting my head in the right place will also help with energy - today ill ferl sorry for myself and tomorrow is a new day.
I think so, too. It sounds like you know your own body pretty well, so why risk upsetting the apple cart?
I'll ignore what she says about multi vitamins.
Good.
Shes suggested zinc, I'll maybe look into that.
Yes, most hypos are low in zinc - which is why they shouldn't be supplementing copper. My pain levels took a nose-dive when I started zinc, and I went from 2+ ibuprofen a day to zero almost over-night.
My ferritin looked OK from medichecks 51.8 (13-150)
No, your ferritin is not OK. Too low. It should be at least mid-range, which is 81.5 with that range. Do you eat liver? Eating about 200 gm once a week would help with your ferritin level - or liver pâté or black pudding.
I don't know why I'm so down atm.
Probably because the future looks a bit bleak, at the moment, with your doctor being obstructive. But, once you know enough to counter her reasoning - if it can be called that - you'll feel better. It will make her take you more seriously.
I bought liver, but have felt so rubbish all week I've not manged to find the time to make pate or find a recipe I think I'd like (I don't think I can eat it just as liver 😝). I bought two lots and put one in the freezer, I'll try to make some tomorrow, or see if I can find some pate that doesn't have loads of stuff I don't eat. Once I have tried a recipe I'll find it easier to just do regularly.
Low D and low iron will cause depression and fatigue. Low B12 will also cause fatigue. Take only liquid D3 (drops or gels), and make sure and take a good absorbable magnesium (such as glycinate, malate, or l-threonate), zinc, A, and K2 with the D. They are cofactors and help absorption. Aim for upper 1/4 range on vitamin levels-75 on D, 800 B12, 90-110 on ferritin. Make sure and get the iron panel.
Your levels are likely jumping around now due to the fact you need medication. You may be producing excess when compensating for the lower output. Go to thyroiduk.org for a list of recommended providers. Thyroidchange.org will also have some.
I missed that. Thanks for pointing it out. I'm used to posting it a lot in my other Hashimoto's group, since many dont know there are cofactors that should be taken with the D3.
My d vit is a spray. Was recommended bt SlowDragon on here. I'll think I'll get K and make sure I get tested for all of them in a couple months Thank you.
