Is anybody using the Mayne brand of T3? I had read that that there were some issues with fillers but I also saw that France managed to get these changed back so I was looking for info on whether this was Ok to take versus Sigma Pharm as it seems Mayne is the cheaper of the two?
Any comments most welcome please x

I have taken Mayne T3 for about 5 years. It was the T3 that I started the T3 journey. It took about a year to get my dosage right. I feel good on the Mayne. I was given Sigma Pharm one time. I could not tolerate it. I was very shaky and felt the T3 spike even on 1 1/2 mcg at a time. At the time my Endo (now fired) was chasing the perfect TSH and was changing my T3 and T4 every 2 months. Yesterday I decided to try the Sigma Pharm as an experiment. I did just fine with it. I think that a constantly changing dose makes me so unstable that I have issues with a change in manufacturers. I have taken Mayne, Sigma Pharm, and Liotir (Italian, liquid). I take 15mcg of T3 daily. I take 5mcg at 6:30 am, 5 mcg at10:00 am, 5 mcg at 1:00 pm. I take 50 mcg of T4 at night. I have been stable on these doses for one year. I find it fascinating that I can tolerate other manufacturers now that I am stable and not chasing a “perfect” TSH. Good luck.
So good to hear a positive story, the early taking and timings might be what im missing.I identify with your story of 'reacting' and i believe if my overalls ft3 tsh were stable i would tolerate meds and foods more successfully too, i suspect my fingering different brands the culprit maybe incorrect, listening to your story.
Can you PM where you managed to get your please?Which i think is formerley Perrigo/Paddock and now under Libertas Pharma (so confusing) I have only managed on private script to locate in the UK 5mcg and i believe it available in 25mcg and 50mcg which may be more economical.
I am in the US.It is still branded Mayne in the US. I can get my Mayne 5mcg tablets at H-E-B. They have to be special ordered. I have a prescription. If you have to buy T3 for yourself, I don’t know where to tell you to buy it. I will say that the Mayne tablets are very hard and do not cut evenly. One half of the tablet tends to shatter. The SigmaPharm tablets cut evenly and tend to be much closer to half a tablet. The liquid Liotir from Italy is the only T3 that I have gotten without a prescription. I did buy it in person. I have bought approximately 20 bottles and have only once been refused in one pharmacy in Rome. One pharmacist did ask me how I took it ( 7 drops 3 times a day). A number of pharmacists asked me how many bottles I wanted. Coming home with 7 or more bottles makes you feel powerful! When we go to Italy I take a pharmacy tour. I then take all the Liotir out of the boxes and disperse them throughout the luggage (my husband’s and mine. I have never had any trouble. Liotir is the brand name in Italy. You don’t ask for T3 you ask for Liotir. You can even write the name on a piece of paper if the pharmacist doesn’t speak English. If you have any more questions, please ask. Good luck getting what you need.
Thank you for replying to me, you made me laugh about 'feeling powerful' i know exactly what you mean! My goodness it is so variable pharma to pharma in every country.
Are you able to get Mayne 25mcg and 50mcg too ? Here in the UK ive been told only 5mcg is available and only on private prescription.
Yes, they are available, but I take 15mcg a day in three separate 5mcg doses. I once considered a 25 mcg tablet when Perrigo or Paddock was switching to the Mayne branding and the 5 mcg tablets were unavailable. I tend to stockpile meds (I refill as soon as I can and buy extra in Italy), so I didn’t have to try the 25 mcg tablets. I still remember what life was like without T3 and I won’t run out. The Mayne really do not cut easily, but you can break them with your fingernails with great effort. Good luck.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Yes i know what you mean about the 'cutting' Mayne, they crumble irregularly and i find finger tip breaking more accurate.
I was hoping to get a 25mcg tab, only because i thought the price may be more favourable. It is very difficult here in the UK to get what you want/need.
Hi, just read what you posted. I'm going to Italy in January for a little break with husband and I'm on T3 cynomel for many years now, but I've always wanted to try liquid liothyronine from Italy liotir, but was wondering what size do the bottles come in and is it expensive. I appreciate your reply. Do you find it works well for you 😊 many thanks
I really like the Liotir and it works well for me. You add the drops to a small amount of water. It is very easy to add extra drops if you are not careful. It is also “a pain” to take when out and about.
There is only one size bottle, 20ml. Each ml contains 20mcg of T3. Each drop is approximately 0.7mcg of T3. Liotir is liothyronine and ethanol. When I was in Italy in April, each bottle was under €13 (€12 and change depending on the pharmacy). If you take large doses of T3, Liotir would be expensive. I take 15mcg a day in three 5mcg doses so a bottle lasts a bit over a month. The instructions say to discard the amount in the open bottle after 30 days. I just take it until the bottle is empty and have never had a problem.
I have take Mayne, SigmaPharm, Cytomel, and Liotir. I have never taken cynomel so I cannot say how it compares.
Have fun in Italy. Let me know if you have any more questions.
