Mayne or Sun brand liothyronine

I am wondering if anyone has experience with either of these generic brands of cytomel? I realize everyone responds differently to different brands. I've always responded best to cynomel from Mexico, but can't really afford to pay out of pocket at the moment. So these are my options through my insurance and I'm trying to decide which brand to go with...

I've tried Sun, Sigma, and King Pharm T3 and I haven't been able to tell the difference. Usually just go with whatever generic is available. Pfizer's name brand Cytomel is too expensive for me and not covered by insurance. If you're in the US I use the goodRx coupons instead of insurance to get a bigger discount.

I believe that Greenstone is the exact same product as Pfizer Cytomel. (Viatris was formed from the Upjohn part of Pfizer and Mylan.)

However, I do find it difficult to keep up with availability of USA products.

helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.

This link takes you to a page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and Google Drive, and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones.

The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrix for tablets, oral solutions and liothyronine available in the UK.

Helvella I don't know if your aware that Mayne Pharma T3 is now Golden State. Originally it was Paddock. I wonder why it keeps on changing? Maybe you would know?

No - hadn't noticed that change!

From 28th February 2023:

Dr Reddy’s to buy US generic products portfolio of Mayne Pharma

pharmaceutical-technology.c...

(And also at one point called Perrigo.)

PS - To all - I am always wanting additions/corrections.deletions for my thyroid hormone documents.

Yes it was Perrigo too. I was up for my script renewal and was told that Mayne Pharma is no longer available. I called Mayne Pharma and was told by a very nice person that indeed it was now Garden State by Dr Reddys. That everything will stay the same supposedly. Hopefully. Thank you Helvella for being on top of your game. If you have any further information please share it with us. Thank you so much in advance.

Just as an add on please. Does anyone know if there is out there a 2.5mcg T3? It would be so very helpful and welcome.

You're correct! I keep calling it King pharma but it does say Greenstone on my bottle but on the pills they still print KPI. I feel lucky when they don't have enough of the Sun pharma to fill so they give me the greenstone ones, which I like much better.

Aside from them having the same manufacturer (Peptido), the same tablet markings seems very much to confirm they are the same.

Imagine making two different tablets which are identical in looks! How could anyone in the factory be sure which they were? Or if issues arise in future.

Pfizer's name brand Cytomel is also marked with KPI and Greenstone is a subsidiary of Pfizer and the Greenstone tablets are also marked KPI. Not sure if I'm getting a "no name" or the actual name brand tablet because they're marked the same! The Greenstone tablets are half the size of the Sun pharma and Sigma.

This thread is entirely concerning USA liothyronine products.

Greenstone is, as said earlier, seemingly Pfizer Cytomel under different branding. Not available in the UK.
