Hello Dearest Thyroid Friends.I dose with both T4 Nd T3. I used to dose with Mayne Pharma T3. It worked very well for me. Mayne was sold off to Dr Reddys. My pharmacy is unable to get. Tried very often from different sources. I was switched to Teva T3. It worked well till recently felt burning in my throat from it. I would love to know if others had the same experiences as well from Teva T3?

I know that Teva T4 many don't do well with.

Thank you in advance.

In case anyone in the UK is considering replying, please note that the formulations are different! And sufficiently different that it would be entirely wrong to make any assumptions about one on the basis of the other!

USA

Made in Hungary

corn starch (pregelatinized), edetate disodium, magnesium stearate, and microcrystalline cellulose.

UK

Made in Croatia

The other ingredients are

microcrystalline cellulose, maize

starch, pregelatinised starch,

colloidal anhydrous silica and

magnesium stearate.

Thank you so much Helvella. Yes I am in US. I did not realize that in U K it might be different fillers. Thank you for posting the fillers.Very helpful.

I am in Canada and my endo took me off Teva T3 after he found out I had switched to it from Cytomel. He said that Teva was rubbish and didn't work well at all. Who knows how the Canadian version stacks up against the U.S. and U.K. ones though?

As there is no Health Canada approved liothyronine :-( , I'd guess it was the USA version. But if it was a special import, all bets are off.

Sorry no results were found for liothyronine

Hmmm. I wonder why it is available here, if Health Canada hasn't authorized it?

Afraid I know little about medicine licensing in Canada. There are sometimes special conditions which allow unapproved medicines to be obtained for special conditions, specific patients.

There are a good number of thyroid patients in Canada taking T3 meds, and it is far easier to obtain here than in the UK, so it certainly isn't obtained by specific patients. Perhaps for the condition though? Interesting stuff - thanks for the info.

Do let me know if you find out more, please. :-)

I just checked your link (above), and when I type in Cytomel it brings up details of liothyronine made by Pfizer.

I should have done that. Back to the issues of brand versus generic/active ingredient! Apologies for missing that. :-)

I really cannot understand why a search for "liothyronine" doesn't include Pfizer's Cytomel. (Though I'd not expect a search for "Cytomel" necessarily to find generic liothyronine products.)

Is there a way of driving the search to look for Active Ingredients?

Sorry, I have no idea. I hadn't seen that site before you linked to it above.

Thank you for your kind response. I was not aware that there could be different formulations in different countries. I just asked on our wonderful well informed forum. Because I started to experience burning in my throat shortly after my dosing. Thank you for your reply.
