On 50mg levothyroxine at present. Am I right in understanding that my Free T4 indicate that my thyroid is still struggling and is at the bottom of the range and would need and increase in Levothyroxine to bring this figure up.
Any advice greatly received.
Thanks

The aim of a treated hypo patient generally is for TSH to be 1 or lower with FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of their ranges, so yes, you need an increase in your dose of Levo.

Not exactly, no. Your thyroid doesn't really have anything to do with it anymore. Taking levo doesn't make your thyroid work better. Nothing can do that. It just replaces the hormone your thyroid can no-longer make enough of.
But, you're right that you need an increase in levo (T4) to bring the FT4 up higher.
50 mcg is only a starter dose and should have been increase by 25 mcg six weeks after starting it. If your doctor is saying that all your levels are 'normal' because they're in-range, then he's wrong. Your TSH is too high - should be 1 or under. And your FT4, as you say, is too low. It should be at least over mid-range. Your FT3 is probably too low for you, too. It's not just about getting the numbers somewhere in the range, it's about getting them to the right place in the range.
