Thought I would share my good news, after weeks of fighting with ignorant doctors, I thought I would give it one more go today, made an appointment wasn’t expecting much except the usual, no increase, TSH within range etc... imagine my surprise when I saw a GP from my usual surgery who I’ve never seen before and she actually listened to me she took time and asked relevant questions and then actually agreed I needed an increase in thyroxine (even though I’m in range) and wrote me a prescription there and then!!! Over the moon does not come close to how I feel at the moment I think I might find light at the end of the tunnel, well in around 6 weeks at least here’s hoping 😊
Just shows standing your ground & finding the right GP can work in your favour!

Great news. Your previous post shows you were very under medicated
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose increase
Many people find Levothyroxine brands are not interchangeable.
Once you find a brand that suits you, best to make sure to only get that one at each prescription.
Watch out for brand change when dose is increased or at repeat prescription.
Many patients do NOT get on well with Teva brand of Levothyroxine. Though it is the only one for lactose intolerant patients. Teva is the only brand that makes 75mcg tablet.
Make sure to get vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested too. When under medicated, vitamins are often badly affected
Thanks for your response, I am lucky in that I’ve only ever been given activis and my increase is also activis which seems to suit me! I have been under medicated for the last year so now feel like I have won a battle, the war has yet to be decided but watch this space.........
Hoping everyone on this group finds what they are looking for!
Hi Sarah I had a similar experience with doctors although, in my case, they wanted to decrease my dose but I argued that unless they tested my T4 & T3 how could they come to the conclusion that I was over medicated. They refused at first but I insisted that if they made me take a lower dose I would become ill and was that what they wanted. They finally agreed to test my T4 & T3 which showed that they were both in the middle/upper end of the range so they had to agree that I wasn't over medicated and let me stay on my preferred dose of 100mcg . Going forward they will now test these each year in fact I have just had a blood test about a week ago, I don't know the results yet but I haven't had a phone call either so I am hoping that they are leaving me be. So yes I agree with you, some doctors do listen, although you do have to stand your ground. Glad you got them to listen and I hope you feel better soon
