Can anyone help me understand how my TG antibodies have gone from 390 (<115) to almost negligible on latest tests? And yet FT4 and FT3 have fallen and TSH has risen? I know it’s not related. Just surprised.

You have Hashi's. And, that's the way it works. The antibodies fluctuate so it's really not worth retesting them, because Hashi's doesn't go away.

Your FT4/3 levels can jump around with Hashi's. And, if the FT4/3 drop, the TSH is going to rise. That's the way it works. The lower your Frees, the more TS the pituitary pumps out to stimulate the thyroid to make more hormone. What are you taking at the moment?

My gp never tested for antibodies and I only discovered them when I did my own medichecks tests. I eventually encouraged my endo to test for them and when the results came back they were very low. He tells me I don’t have an autoimmune condition. He’ll hardly test for them again.

I was on 75mcg levo and metavive 1 then the endo put me on a trial of t3 (10mcg daily) and reduced my levo by 25mcg to 50mcg. However on seeing my last results he recently upped my t3 to 20mcg and increased levo back up to 75mcg.

Whether you discovered them on your own or not is irrelevant. You said they were 390, which is positive for Hashi's. Then your retested them and they went down to in-range and you wanted to know why. I just said there was no poing in having that second test because antibodies fluctuate but it doesn't mean anything. I wasn't suggesting that your endo test them again. You have Hashi's, and that isn't going to go away no matter, how low the antibodies go. Endos know very little about Hashi's/antibodies, anyway.

So, you're on quite a good dose, now. When is your next test?

Hi GG. Sorry I wasn’t questioning your response. I was just disappointed that when the endo did test them they were so low. I don’t suppose it really matters in the long run.

I’ve had a very difficult time (Lots of stress and lost my dad last week) for the last two months and it was bad timing to trial t3. My next test is end of November.

Oh, I see! I didn't understand that. lol Well, it does matter if you have Hashi's, because of the way it behaves. But doctors don't understand how Hashi's works, anyway. But it is best if you at least know.

I'm so sorry for your loss. But, maybe the T3 will help you get through this difficult time.

Thank you. Just one more question. If my antibodies fluctuate does that have implications for dosing with T4 and t3 in the future? Should I expect to have good and bad spells? (Sorry! That’s two questions!). Two separate endos have told me TG antibodies aren’t relevant and now he’ll be convinced that my condition isn’t autoimmune. Does it matter?

As I said, antibody fluctuations mean nothing. That's just what they do. No connection to your dosing. And, yes, you could expect good and bad spells, but that's nothing to do with the antibodies, either. Have a look at this article about antibodies:
