I started my NDT journey this time last year. I have been self sourcing from USA at an almighty cost, I’ve been justified the cost with how incredible I feel - I’ve got my life back!!
However I need to be realistic about the long term and it is not sustainable for me to be spending large amounts of money like that.
I’ve been using WP & Nature Thyroid, I saw people using Metavive - does anyone have experience of changing from porcine to bovine - are there any issues?
Also, any advice on making this more sustainable? Is Adding T3 an option?
Worried 😔

It is sensible to look ahead with regard to thyroid hormones if we source them ourselves.
Due to you having your thyroid gland removed, you definitely need more than levothyroxine.
You would have to trial a T4/T3 combination and if in UK they rarely prescribe T3. I think you should ask to be referred to an Endocrinologist as they can prescribe if they think it necessary.
If you decide otherwise, put up another post giving your area and asking members if they know of a good endo within it. Your post will be closed so that the info can be sent direct to you
I'm having real problems with levo some lovely people on here have suggested I try NDH as my gp wants to take me off levo for 6wks to see if my TSH rises a lot on here I've told me to seek further help from another gp as my TSH is suppressed.. My T3 is very low and my T4 is only 20% above normal... Would you mine if I asked how much NDH is to buy... I'm very unwell and at the moment bedridden due to total exhaustion and pain 😭
How much are you paying for American NDT? I buy 100 tablets for $150. It's not cheap but I cannot do without them. If it doubles in price I might be in the same boat as you (My escape route is to be ThyroGold, from New Zealand) but let's compare prices. I get mine from Forrest Pharmaceuticals.
Have you tried Thyroid S from Thailand? I took it last year and it was delivered within 10 days by my postman to my house. I think I paid £59 for about 500 tablets which are a grain each. (I think they cost more now) I no longer take it because I took too larger dose (1 1/2 grains) and my hair started to shred and my nails lifted off my nail beds. I honestly think it helped me go into remission again that and the Vitamin D and selenium may have helped in my recovery.
