Hello I just wondered if you know does apple cider vinegar affect thyroxine absorption.
I’ve been advised to take a mix of Apple cider vinegar and lemon juice in warm water first thing on waking (due to digestive issues ) and am worried as I also take thyroxine first thing on waking .

That doesn't sound like a good idea to me. You should only take water with your levo. And, normally, people take the ACV just before a meal - every meal.
To be on the safe side keep the thyroxine away from anything. Fast for two hours before and one hour after the tablet.
I'd love to be able to have a slice of lemon in water on waking because I'm always hearing about the health benefits. But I take 3 doses a day so there is no way to avoid a morning dose. One of the constant annoyance of taking thyroid hormone is that it locks up breakfast time
If you take thyroxine/levothyroxine in a single dose you could consider switching to bedtime dosing. This works well for many people, and would mean you can do what you want for morning and breakfast.
Thanks SilverAvacado, I tried bed time thyroxine before and it seems to affect my sleep. I think I will go back to my routine of thyroxine and only water for an hour. This “shot” of lemon and ACV was recommended by a practitioner and it was only after I had left the session that I thought of thyroxine, I think I will do what greygoose suggested I.e take it before a meal rather than on waking.
I would question taking extra acid on an empty stomach, irrespective of the levothyroxine issue.
In a healthy person the stomach produces gastric acid in preparation for eating. So, the smell of dinner cooking, for example can trigger off the mouth watering and the stomach producing more acid.
Making the stomach more acid with vinegar and/or lemon juice when food isn't going to be eaten for an hour or more doesn't sound like a good idea to me. It could irritate the stomach, increase the risk of gastritis, and may eventually cause ulceration. I would only take extra acid in any form when I was just about to eat. I would sip it throughout the meal to help with digestion.
