Blood Test

I did post before but have not had a response to the results, so I'm posting again.

As the previous list also contained liver results (I included those just in case someone might be able to throw some light on them), I have dropped those and just included thyroid, vitamin and iron tests to make the list of results shorter and simpler.

TSH0.014(0.27 – 4.2)

FT34.79(3.1 – 6.8)

FT415.912- 22)

Folate8.27>3.89

Vitamin B12238(37.5 -188)

Vitamin D73.3(50 – 175)

Ferritin193(13 – 150)

Iron15.26(5.8 – 34.5)

TIBC67.26(45 – 72)

UIBC52(24.2 – 70.1)

Mischa you might get more responses if you ask a question or say how you feel. Otherwise like me folks will look at the Ft3 and ft4 levels and think that they are fine if she's feeling OK.

I posted before and listed ongoing symptoms.

Trying to find out why I still have symptoms.

Can you say what dose Levothyroxine (plus T3?) you are currently taking

Plus what vitamin supplements

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water . This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

If/when also on T3, make sure to take last dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

Is this how you do your tests?

See that a year ago you were taking T3

If you look at my post just prior to this one (2 days ago) you asked me the same questions and I answered your questions but you did not reply to my response.

This was my original post:

"I am on 75mcg T4 and 20mcg T3.

FT3 4.79 (3.1 – 6.8)

Vitamin D 73.3 (50 – 175)

This was my reply to your response:

"Thank you for responding to my post.

I take the bulk of my meds in the morning and I usually take half T3 at midday. However on the day prior to the test I the took half the T3 at 6 p.m.

On the day of the test I set out to have the blood drawn at 8 a.m. but ended up at the wrong clinic and had to phone Medichecks for the correct clinic. I finally found the clinic and had blood drawn at 9 a.m.

I have seen on another forum, an American Facebook for thyroid that blood should be drawn 12 - 15 hours after last dose. I don't know if this is right.

In March of this year my thyroid test results were:

TSH 0.01, FT4 18.7, FT3 5.5 same ranges and this was 14 hours after last dose. Blood taken at 8 a.m. after fasting and same dosage.

I find it difficult when I have to change times for dosing from midday to evening.

I have ongoing symptoms of periodically feeling cold, dry, 'tight' skin, constipation and a sore/painful throat that varies but doesn't go away. These symptoms worsen when I have to delay taking the midday T3. Any changes in timing affects me.

Supplements that I take are:

Adrenal Cortex, Vitamin C (500mg), B Complex, B12, Selenium, Vitamin D3 and K2, Magnesium, fish oil and collagen.

I am and have been hypo for some time and trying to find out why I am having a hard time finding wellness, hence the long list of blood tests.

Apologies......missed replying. Actually I think I started to reply and then lost internet (been away on holiday with haphazard internet connection)

Well we are all different, but personally I need higher FT4 and FT3 than your latest results

I would suggest you try a 25mcg increase in Levothyroxine and retest in 6-8 weeks

This should increase FT4 and also help increase FT3

I think your probably under medicated

Have you tried taking T3 as 3 doses per day?

I find it gives more even spread - 10mcg at 7am, 5mcg at 3pm and 5mcg at 11pm

But again we are all different....some people prefer single dose

As always, only make one change at a time or you can't work out which is helping.

I would suggest you increase Levothyroxine first. Wait 6-8 weeks and retest

Then perhaps experiment with how you split your T3

Vitamin D is perhaps not high enough. How much are you taking? Is it mouth spray?

Aiming for at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol may be better

Thank you for your quick response.

I will try splitting the T3 in 3 doses - it may well work that way.

I doubt if I will get an increase in T4 from docs because they keep banging on about my suppressed TSH. If necessary I will look for other supplier.

I was taking D3 in tablet form (2,000) but now I'm taking a mouth spray and it is 3,000. So hopefully this will rise.

Once again thank you and I do appreciate any feedback I can get.

It might help to edit your post and separate within the lines as necessary, at present it is difficult to read.

I typed up and spaced out the figures neatly and clearly in Word and then cut and pasted into the above post. For whatever reason posting deleted all spacing.

Again you will see above that spacing has been deleted.
